With the advent of this figure's release (and very hopefully a subsequent widespread release), I'd like to post my overview of Captain Marvel. I'm fairly certain I haven't posted it on this forum yet, but ah well here goes. (I'd like to post it in this action figure thread as opposed to the movie thread, as not to stir commotion lol) I'll wrap it in spoilers so as not to overburden with my post :)

Captain Marvel is my favorite film of 2019, and now one of my favorite superhero movies. Of course, it isn?t as great of a film to others, and I do agree with the criticism of the story structure needing more work and direction (this may be due to it being part of the shared universe which I feel compromises some films). I quite like it not for how high or low it ranks to other superhero films, but for what this film means to me personally. Now, I?ve taken a liking to this film not necessarily for it being a ?grand? film, but for various moments and expositions that struck different chords to my interpretation, and, the main focus of the film, Captain Marvel herself.

As with other movies, I do not watch any trailers, and saw this one unexpectedly. I was pleasantly pleased and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The setting and ambience of the movie felt good, from Hala, to the Spaceships, the LA area, Air Force bases, Louisiana, and Mar-Vell?s lab; the visuals and colors of the worlds presented felt fitting. It being set in the 1990?s made the setting a bit more fun and had some nice throwbacks. The soundtrack was awesome to me too; it had a nice mix of sci-fi notes, 90?s music and Captain Marvel?s epic theme.

Brie Larson as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers was well done to me. I thought she did a fantastic job in the role and her delivery is excellent and I liked her expression throughout. She is snarky, spunky, full of care, mischievous and emotional. I noticed so many quick and quirky expressions from her, which I thought made her more jovial. Her portrayal in the film, that?s what I?m extremely intrigued about, her exuberance as Captain Marvel is what I find endearing, to myself. The rest of the characters did a very good job being portrayed. I wanted to see more relationship exploration between Danvers, Rambeau, and Lawson/Mar-Vell, which are key characters and would elevate the film more in my opinion. Mar-Vell/Lawson especially, since she was deemed as a prominent figure to Danvers and inadvertently helped her acquire her powers and even convinced a battle-hardened/trained ?Vers? to oppose the Kree in a quick succession. Which means a lot of trust, is placed on her. Rambeau?s daughter is infectiously charming I thought. Jude Law as Yon-Rogg is so cool, how he starts off as a mentor figure, then as a perceived villain in the flash back. I?d no qualms with the twist of Skrulls being victims of the Kree, in contrast to the comics where they?re regularly antagonized.

I just absolutely loved the power sets Captain Marvel portrays. I always want to see SUPER powerful superhero characters and she delivers. I was wonderstruck during the final battle, when she learns to fly and goes all out with her powers. I couldn?t contain my excitement and was in awe when she was holding off the ballistic warhead and threw it at the other warheads. Just seeing her flying through and blasting the spaceships made me feel giddy and joy like a little kid. The scene where she breaks free from the Supreme Intelligence and gains the rest of her powers is just iconic; the scene itself has a lot of meaning to me.
I?m quite enthralled with this film as you can tell, but this is just my opinion and view of it. :) :) :)

Got an email that my Newt Scamander figure is due into Sideshow next week and should be shipping on Wednesday. Newt was released by Hot Toys on January 15th, and Carol Danvers was right behind him in early February, so odds are, she's probably not far behind. Hopefully Newt coming in means Sideshow is receiving product from Hot Toys again and we'll all have her soon as well.

Yeah they?re shipping, but the boat ride over takes a long time. Supposedly Hot Toys is back in normal production mode. Time will tell if it sticks. I hope so and that things are looking up.

This figure kind of lost my attention over the past year but I'm liking how she turned out and thinking of grabbing her. She looks a bit short though, from the reviews I've seen? How are you guys finding her height wise?

She is definitely short, like pretty much every female figure Hot Toys has put out.

I sometimes think that they believe all women are the exact same height, and a foot or so
shorter than every male on the planet, lol.

Yep she is a bit shorter compared to the other superheroes. Though, it doesn't seem to bother me at all. Here's a few comparisons!

Hot toys only have one female body they use I think . They charge so much money for these but are too cheap to invest in more female bodies

The Wonder Woman figures are pretty tall, and are more less in scale with their Cavill Superman and Batfleck counterparts. But I agree that a 5’7” Larson would not be that vastly shorter than a 6’0” Evans, as shown in the pics above where this figure is standing next to Cap.
