All the talk of a new Vader

This version of Obi Wan I might want to collect as well
I like his dark outfit
To be fair, it is a Darth Vader thread. :vader

If Hot Toys wanted to be adventurous, they could release three versions of Obi Wan. (Four if you include the AotC flashback which I'm sure they've already worked on for the 20th Anniversary wave.)

Since when did Vader forget to kneel before the Emperor?
I don't really understand the hologram protocol in Star Wars but snoke and the emperor have these ridiculously oversized Holograms in some scenes and yet very small Holograms in others so I don't know if they are compensating the way that some people do with 4 x 4 trucks or if other times they feel very confident in themselves.

I'm also not sure if one person is looking at a hologram is the other party also seeing a hologram? I presume so and if so how do they determine whose hologram is bigger?

I’d love a Deluxe Kenobi with his Vader battle outfit with sleeveless robe, and his end of show outfit. Highly unlikely that would ever happen but damn it’d be a good set

For the majority of situations, I would think it’s just based on the size of the holoprojector and what’s most practical or required for a room or situation. But some definitely make use it psychologically for intimidation and projecting status or rank.

The AT-AT has a small projector so Vader is suitably tiny. But when Vader speaks to Palpatine on the Executor, the entire room is a holoprojector (confirmed in EU but not in new canon).

This contrast is a visual plot device, but the room could also be something used for mission planning and briefings or stellar cartography when not taken up by Palpatine’s head. Or they just have it specifically to address subordinates with a massive hologram of your face.

It may not always be the case, but the other party can see you as a hologram like Palpatine and Cody.

Which is pretty cool tech considering Cody just has a handheld holoprojector and it’s still able to project a full image of him.

The less said about Snoke the better, but that was probably just ego and scare tactics.

I'd love for Hot Toys to go the two pack route with both of them but I'd be pretty surprised if they did in 2022. Especially when they know they could sell them individually, likely making more off of each individual figure. However, if they were to do a deluxe two pack, I think Vader is far more likely than Kenobi. They can basically do the Boba two pack where a specific sculpt/figure is just hidden behind that (in this case, the battle damaged headsculpt).

I do consider an AOTC Anakin and Obi Wan two pack possible as well considering it was a fan-favourite moment in the show. But again I just really wonder if Hot Toys doesn't just look at a 2 pack for 500 usd or two separate figures for 300 and just see that, monetarily, the two separate figures makes more business sense. Not only is there more money gained from someone who purchases both, it also provides easier access for someone to purchase their first Hot Toy.

Thought I would ask here since this and Obi-Wan will in all likelihood be the next Star Wars figures that take batteries.

How do our collector friends over in Australia plan to deal with the battery law that’s just gone into effect?

Directed to @ObiGlennKenobi and @choombaz but I know there are others from there around. Seems like an enormous hit to the collecting community.

Popcultcha is saying they won’t ship figures with button cell batteries within Australia and I’ve heard Sideshow is already cancelling orders for those products there.

You folks already deal with a lot being collectors in Australia but this seems like an unprecedented crisis.
Gday @MyenShi

Thanks for bringing this too my attention.
I do like to use Pop for orders and currently I have nothing on order with them,so bullet dodged.
The only figures I have on order with SSC are TCW Anakin with Poncho and the deluxe Luke from Mando..
so I'll see how those ones pan out.
I'm using ToysBuyingAgent a lot lately where I can, especially for the big hitters like Jango,Ashoka and Snowspeeder Luke.
HK ordering seems to be quicker as local Etailers are basically Tatooine compared to HK Coruscant.
But yeah,****** law.
Once the Lucky country, now the nanny state.😛

Any vader outfit comparison between this ver and the other ver? Is this more similar to ANH era or ROTS?

im guessing HT will reuse the rogue one ver parts to build most of this

The figure they previewed looks like it will be the clean version.

Broken Mask Vader will require a huge gash across his back which I'm assuming goes beyond switch out parts and will require a totally different figure.
Battle Damaged mk85 iron Man begs to differ.
HT thinks we don’t look at the backs of figures so definitely won’t bother with that.

I’m just super excited to get my BD Vader in summer 2024.

L&T Thor is March 2024 so Kenobi figures will be released around Spring as well hopefully.

Still a very long wait. Kind of surreal looking at figures that are scheduled to be released that far out. Like what the heck am I even going to be doing with my life in March 2024?
