Unless there's some Anakin Hayden face sculpt then I'll be waiting for my Vader that is the Mark I ROTS.. Maybe in 2025
They could design it similar to TCW Anakin's armor where it has cuts to stretch out.Only problem with the ROTS suit is that the pauldrons and chest armour are one solid piece, good luck getting any poses.
As long as it’s Old Anakin, and not “I can’t act for crap Anakin”.Next year for the ROTJ 40th. I'm almost certain. It will be like an ESB re-issue but with an Anakin head sculpt.
Yep really been waiting for HT to make this, or maybe InArt will. Need ROTS Vader fast.Unless there's some Anakin Hayden face sculpt then I'll be waiting for my Vader that is the Mark I ROTS.. Maybe in 2025 View attachment 580750
Not true the pauldrons are separate, it looked like one piece.Only problem with the ROTS suit is that the pauldrons and chest armour are one solid piece, good luck getting any poses.
Higher price, sand foot base.I really like to see what HT plans to do to make this Obi Wan series Vader different from past releases
R1 is like a hybrid of ANH and ESB so that's why I like it so much. The angrier ANH dome brow always appealed to me and I like the look of the inner robes over the armor, but it's cleaner and shinier like the ESB armor and has ESB style chest armor. Plus the ESB lightsaber. The cod wasn't the best but overall it's pretty neat.ESB Vader still the best 1/6 version for me, with R1 a very close second. Waiting for HT to do a rotj version but I am not holding my breath.
probably true but...Higher price, sand foot base.
So the funny thing about this figure is that the one they had on display at Celebration was (I believe) simply their Rogue One figure with the robes underneath the armor. In reality, the Kenobi Vader is not at all the same Rogue One costume and has several notably different features. Obviously they just put that out as a tease of products to come, and not an actual showcase of their Kenobi Vader in progress.
Kenobi Vader:
- Has a helmet dome closer to ESB than to R1/ANH, meaning smooth brow not pointy (although the mask retains the smaller ANH/R1 chin vent).
- Smooth inner robes without pleats, closer to ANH than to R1 but worn under the armor like ESB.
- Chest armor with a unique shape, a little shorter and flatter in the front similar to changes made to RotS Vader, likely again to fit Hayden better.
- Chest box without straps, like how the RotS version was attached (although the box itself is still ANH/R1 style).
- Entirely new cod piece, fairly unique in the realm of vader **** armor but probably closest to Hot Toys' ESB cod.
- ANH-style lightsaber.
So if they had started with the R1 figure as a base, replaced the robes with the ones from their ANH figure (under the armor), gave him their ESB cod, probably the ESB helmet too, and then the ANH lightsaber, all parts they already have, their "preview" would have been a lot closer to the actual Kenobi costume.
Here's an album of reference shots from the last episode:
Nice and shinny...ROTS suit is nice.
I have not forgotten that Hot Toys entirely skipped Vader's boots altogether just because they're harder to see from the front behind the shin armor they just give him shoes instead!Neither Hot Toys nor Lucasfilm Licensing really care about accuracy now though, they’ve proven that with a few figures now . They don’t seem to use actual models from the licensor and just make their own interpretation of it.
You’ll get a RO Vader reissue and you’ll like it .
