Just ordered a second one to have as a spare and to customize/head swap if HT ever makes a Bespin gown Leia.
All you need to do is swap the head and take the vest jacket off and you have Bepsin Escape Leia (I can hang with boots not being 100% correct).

I would actually think HT first releasing an escape version as an exclusive might be more likely than the gown version.

Yeah, that's what I said all right.

I'm still only 6 months into collecting HT's, so I can't claim to know their working MO very well. I was thinking that a more demonstrable difference (costume + head /hair change) would be the more likely figure to come down the pike, but if the history is that HT is more into lazier variants, then a slight change to a head sculpt + keeping an already fabricated costume would seem the more reasonable to expect.

Oh well, we'll see I guess.

Another big motivation for the second figure was because I passed years ago on the original Leia and regretted it. Then I paid a premium to get it after market.
I don't want that to happen again, just in case.

If a Bespin escape variant is released, I'll pick that up and sell off the unopened extra Hoth one. Not too worried either way.

Back in the day, HT would have given you 2 heads with different hairstyles and both types of footwear to re-create both Hoth and Escape looks from one figure. That was a long time ago...in a galaxy far, far away.

A Bespin escape version is a 100% certainty IMO. That kind of "slight change" variation seems like a really obvious EX for this.

As much as I love the idea of a Bespin gown version (and you'd think if they redo the hair sculpt for a Bespin escpae version it would be a no-brainer to do a gown version with the head the same) I just can't see HT thinking that outfit would sell very well. It's not one of the iconic outfits, or even a "battle outfit" like Endor (and Bespin Escape) is.

Other than the brief banquet scene moment (where she's more a girlfriend hanging on than grabbing a gun herself) it's really only a brief one or two scene outfit with no exposure to action or fighting. It's a bit like Ewok Village Leia - no gun, no fights, more about make-up and soft lighting.

Hope I'm wrong though - HT has nailed the sculpt over and over for Leia, would love to see what they'd do for a gown look.

I agree, the escape version is a no brainer for HT. It's actually my most preferred look for her other than the Slave. I would be super surprised if they did the gown.

This figure made me want to do a full 180 and I decided to sell my entire Black Series collection to get into Hot Toys.

And since ordering this one I’ve acquired 5 HT/sideshows...
