Have to say that the movie Flash doesn't look like Barry straight from the comics... however, neither is the TV versions... personally I have become tired of the TV series... I really hate the costume, and the constant reliance by Barry on everyone else has become a bit stale – he can't seem to do anything for himself! Shame really, because I like Grant Gustin and with a better script and bigger budget, they could've really nailed the character!

I am looking forward to the movie's versions evolution though, and looking forward to seeing his suit development.

Yeah I think Gustin makes for a great Flash, but unfortunately too often the show makes him into this tortured, moody, overly angsty figure who's just not much fun to watch at all.

Miller's version is much more how I think the character should be, and it makes me want to see his standalone movie even more now.

I hope they give him a true stand alone movie before Flashpoint which will be more of a Justice League movie.

I think they've already said the upcoming Flash movie will be "Flashpoint", so there won't be a standalone beforehand. That also would suggest that Reverse Flash will be the villain. It does seem a little premature, but if it does well there will be sequels.

Flashpoint movie will be great I'm sure. Would still have liked a true standalone movie for him first. Maybe they will change their minds if he is very well received in this movie.

Flashpoint will be a great movie, and it will be fun to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne/Batman... but it's a heavy storyline and think a lighter toned movie would be better for a first Flash outing...

...that said, I like the darker, more serious tone of the DCEU so i'll be watching it, whatever :wink1:

Zack Snyder is brilliant... I think he has such a strong vision for this universe, but I think it's a vision that rubs a lot of people up the wrong way because it goes against their expectations of where they want all the characters to be.

I just watched the ultimate edition of BvS again last night, and I have to say, all the people that are thinking Wonder woman is being pushed front and center because her film did well are simply wrong. Snyder made such a magnificent casting choice with Gal Gadot that people missed in this film. Seeing Wonder Woman and then her performance in BvS you can see all her subtle brilliance she brought to her solo film. And more than that, she stands out as the titular hero in the film. Not only is she the only character to have such a clear and in your face music theme play throughout the film, which is carried into her solo outing, but she stands front and centre in the first trinity shot of the DCEU as a character that hasn't been manipulated or played, but as a character that see's something is wrong and has to go back to help. I think it's pretty evident that Snyder meant for her to be the leading character of the universe. I don't think it's a mistake that her appearing in BvS was such a big thing with her continuous music score bursting out of the film or being the front and centre of the trinity.

Also I really ****ing loved where he had the characters in the film. I think the opening sequence before the title where Bruce is running towards the destruction seeing Superman completely destroy Metropolis and the final shot of his complete rage at Superman set the tone and scene perfectly - it's here that Batman is hellbent on killing someone so powerful, moreso than anything he would have dealt with before. I think that's the tipping point in a world with already built-in history (Joker/Robin/burned down Wayne Manor) that obviously says this is a Batman past his prime who is hopeless. I don't think all of this was so subtle that people that don't like the film missed, although I still think a tonne of people take the Martha scene at such face value of, oh ours mum's share the same name hurdur, but I think it's such an interesting jumping off point for the universe - and JL is very clearly a natural progression from this of building to a team of heroes that people are more accustomed to. Personally I wish we got to see more of Batman in his BvS mindset with the horror approach and with his aesthetic. I'll always loathe that such a thing will never be possible now due to the backlash.

No doubt, i've wanted to see a big screen Thomas Wayne Batman and Martha Wayne Joker for a long time. It's one of my favourite DC stories ever.

I just wish they'd build up to it a little slower and give him a smaller scale movie first so we really get to know this version of the character.

At least season 4 is supposed to be a bit more upbeat. And Barry gets another suit upgrade- brighter red, gold belt and gold at the cuffs and boot tops. It looks like the same suit from the Once and Future Flash episode. I'm liking the vibe of it. But I'm mostly happy that DC/WB is allowing both versions of the Flash to have room to breath and define themselves. Miller's version looks like a lot of fun (even if his kind of goofy attitude is a little more Bart Allen than Barry Allen to me).

When is the next JL member going up for PO already? I'm dying here!

:goodpost::goodpost::goodpost:

Great post - I think the thing that should be considered with Batman and Superman is that they are so ingrained into popular culture, they have transcended the comic book genre and become icons, and as such everyone knows who they are... however most people don't actually read comics and so their only real knowledge of these characters comes from TV, movies and cartoons – this then means that their expectations are distorted... when people say "not muh Superman", they generally only know the character from the Donner movie, and so don't really know what they're talking about!
The opposite has worked in Marvel's favour – the majority of people didn't know who their characters were before the MCU (only really Spidey and Hulk are well known worldwide) and so nobody is bothered that the characters of Iron Man, Thor or the GoTG etc are completely changed - because nobody has any preconceived idea of who they are!

The suit does need to be brighter, but I wish they'd get rid of the pleather jacket/pants combo... and hate the way all the heroes in the CW universe seem to shop in the same pleather factory!
In this day and age I'm sure they could come up with better costumes... maybe open it up as a sort of competition to aspiring costume designers and pick the best - I'm sure you'd get better, more inventive costumes that way!

So news come out Ben is a perv too! JL might be our last Ben batman.

I'm very surprised they still haven't put any more of these figures up for pre-order. Are they really going to release than tactical suit Batman figure months ahead of all the others? Wasn't expecting Wonder Woman or Superman until later but thought we'd have got Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman pre-orders by now.

Hope that's right. I'm impatient to see more, especially the three newcomers to the DCEU. :lol
