The details are better then I thought!

True story... I lied and told my then GF now Wife that I won a statue in a contest. :lol I didn't feel too guilty.

Reading through this whole thing after coming back from Comic-con was both fun and annoying at equal intervals. The first thing I saw when I walked over to the Sideshow/HT booth was this freaking gigantic TIE Fighter. I was blown away. I am 6'3" and standing next to this thing... it is freaking huge. It is really close to accurate 1/6th from all the measurements thrown about earlier in this thread. One thing to keep in mind is these are NOT prop replicas. I actually don't want them to be because props, models, and set pieces are made for one specific moment in time and only have to be as operational as they need to be to get that moment. A set only has to last long enough to get the scene and then it should nearly collapse on itself. A real building is meant for permanency.

That being said, if anyone was there you can see that this TIE is held up by at least 1 1/2" acrylic rods under the wing struts and supports under the wings themselves which makes me question its overall structural setup and whether that sort of support base would be needed on a production run. This thing is insanely impressive but not at all practical. The Falcon cockpit was already questionable in display practicality as it nearly needs a table or pedestal of its own and if you can see any of the images of it right next to the TIT you can see exactly how ridiculously big this is... It is at least six Marty McFly's stacked on top of each other tall (he was sitting right next to the TIE on the opposite side of the Falcon)... hell the new flying Delorean they showed looked small compared to even the cockpit on this thing.

I talked to a certain local Southern California vendor who will remain nameless as they were full of negativity and near hate towards both SSC and HT and they said it will never be made. Their theory was that even if they did put it up for sale, the likelihood of it getting released would be solely based on pre-orders. They sited the '66 Batmobile and I saw all the SW greater than BM posts but to be honest that is a moot point.. does anyone other than the vocal people on here have the money, space, and will to purchase this?

I think it is an awesome piece but I live in an albeit large 2 bedroom apt in Los Angeles... This thing is bigger than our master bathroom. Its bigger than my dinette area. it is insane. As much as I love it I would rather have had HT take another crack at Chewbaca's face...

So a vendor confirmed to you this is just a prop? Also, when you walked up to it, was it taller than you? It does not seem to be five feet tall, not at all from the pictures. Might just be the angles.

No, the vendor did not, he just said it would never be made.

The top of the case was way over my head... The actual cockpit I had to look up to look into. Its on a base of course the but the base was below my waist and the cockpit ball was above my eye level just trying to give some perspective... I would say that the wings are pretty close to 5' top to bottom but hard to estimate on the pedestal base.

You said in an earlier post that the wings are just under 9 Meters and Marty McFly should be about a Meter and half (well maybe not, MJFox is pretty short).. it seemed to me that you would need at least 6-8 Marty Mcflys end to end to get close to the vertical wingspan on this thing.. I don't know if it is to scale, but it is giant. The pilot had lots of space around him in the cockpit too. I didn't love the two red glowing lasers on the front of the ball, looked a bit Hasbro to me but the inside cockpit lighting was cool and ominous.

Man, hope this doesn't turn into another debate on whether this is 'true' 1:6 scale, WWE! :slap :lol

Thanks for all the in-person impressions, Travis. It is sounding like this is something I could never hope to display. :monkey2

Cool. Thank you for the info. I would like to see it in person, Im sure it would be pretty cool.

Nah, if what Travis says is true, I think this would be a true 1/6th scale. Everyone was debating on pics without really knowing, thinking back, all of our debate was pretty pointless and stupid.... now that we have a first hand account, if it is 6 Marty Mcfly"s that would be about five feet.... true 1/6th, which is pretty cool. Still does not change the fact its probably not getting made, but glad I was wrong. I would buy it now if I had room.

Perspective plays with your eyes. It have to remind myself that the TIE Fighter Pilot in the cockpit is actually 1:6 scale. To me it looks like one of those minis that you see but never are supposed to play with and then I look over at the SSC Batman on my desk and realize just how massive this thing actually is. I don't think any of the pics are really giving the true impression of how big this is.

It is definitely something I hope they make and that I can afford even if it's the only thing I can buy for a couple of years. I'll worry about where to put it later, Lol.

However big you think it is from looking at pictures, when you see it in person, trust me, it's bigger.

I think most people would be fine with this, and in reality that is how EVERYTHING is released. If the POs do not go well in general pieces get cancelled. Most of the time they hit the minimum, however pieces have been cancelled for too few POs. I do not think this TIE , if at a decent price point, would be one of them. I think what most people are afraid of is not ever going up to PO at all.

Dude. Just read the first post of the thread. You can read right ? See hot toys post.

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/...159779-hot-toys-millenium-falcon-cockpit.html

Yes. Happy to wait and see who is right.

You need to learn how to post more respectfully.

Also consider that they mention this Falcon cockpit in the same post saying they're doing "spacecraft" - an actual product that we can buy may just be the Tie Fighter cockpit.

And whoever said that Sideshow told them that Hot Toys is definitely making this is most likely confused. I have confirmation that they don't know as yet.

It's the Sideshow Tie Fighter pilot.

i dont know if this is really being made or not, but i do know one thing for certain, if its ever made i'll have one in my house.

Look how massive the tie is compared to the blonde looking at it. Even the falcon.

This is not entirely true, it all depends on the prop/studio scale/model and scene they are making it for. Besides that most high quality prop replicas are enforced with metal armatures, so for example the EFX TIE wings will not sag like they did on Icons TIE.

Thanks for confirming that it's still unknown - the back and forth around here is whiplash inducing.

It is a little mind-blowing that a 1/6 collectible that massive might make its way into people's homes.

It's the Sideshow Tie Fighter pilot.

I guess that explains why the TIE Pilot wasn't on display - Sideshow's proto pilot was busy.

Yea, apologies, I got a bit worked up considering he still thinks the falcon won't go on sale despite the actual sideshow blog says so. It was like hitting your head against the brick wall and no matter the evidence you showed he didn't believe it and kept going on about how the falcon was going to be a test...I definitely could of handled it better but I also would of liked if people realise their mistake and apologised for it (like I have done).

Anyway, that is the end of the matter for me. The falcon will go on sale. Tie fighter we need to wait a bit longer.

I also have confirmation it will go on sale though, not just from one source but from two different sources who both attended the show and spoke to sideshow - I don't make stuff up. Hpwever, never said definite release. Anything and everything can be cancelled up until the last minute in my view.

Well we got Budget Stark here on the forums so I'll message him and see if he can dig anything up next time he visits Secret Base - simple! I'll also message a view youtube guys who attended.
