A 1:6 TIE cockpit with no wings is the worst of all worlds, IMO. No offense, Centro, but it's a horrible idea, lol.

Don't get why so many people are against 1:12. I think it would look great with the figures and is a more practical size while still being quite large. Also means we could display hopefully two or three ships. I'd love a 1:12 TIE and Slave 1.

Beyond that, hope the convo about whether HT will produce these or not dies down soon. We'll see what actually goes up for order (if anything) in the next 12 months and until then debating it is pointless. Even if they do make a 1:6 TIE (which I doubt), it doesn't mean we'll get an X-Wing or doggone Millenium Falcon. Those ships are retardedly big and it's annoying to even read one person banging on and on that they're going into production. Seriously, just ST*U about it until we see a pre-order. ;)

The problem with 1/12 to me (for Star Wars, where vehicles have been very widely produced in various scales) is it's not a huge leap from 1/18 and Hasbro has already done a pretty spectacular 1/18 TIE fighter.

1/6 does indeed have a "wow" factor - even if you need to be wealthy to afford it and have a garage to display it.

Call me impressed and pretty intrigued. Depending on the price of course this may be a purchase. And as far as space.........I'll make room.
What will be interesting to find out if this really will be available for purchase and where do they go from here if they do sell it. And then throw the epic model's collectibles snowspeeder in the mix to raise more questions like, will they be a kit, unpainted or painted, glued or snap together.......:dunno

Got a solution: start collecting 1/12 scale figures. A NEW MARKET! You'd have twice the room, more even as you could lower your detolf shelves... and you could collect vehicles!

Let's do it! Let's all make the move to 1/12 scale action figures! YEAH!.... oh wait..... there are no clothed 1/12 scale action figures yet. Booooo!

The wings pose a HUGE shipping issue or a MAJOR durability issue. One piece wing requires freight shipping, multiplication wing has to be extremely durable and there isn't a lot of thickness available to create a strong attachment point. Imagine you paid 2kish for this and after a few years the wings start to warp and the connections are not visible or no longer stay together as well. I would personally be VERY concerned if the wings came in multiple pieces.
Agreed. If the wings on a theoretical 1:6 TIE were anything other than one piece it would be a deal-breaker for me. 2+ piece design means they're making durability concessions for shipping and I'm certain that over time the strain would show. I'd really want excellent build quality even if it adds substantially to the price vs making it as cheap as possible.

Indeed, it would have a huge wow factor in 1:6. I'd be sorely tempted to find a way to pick one up if they did it right.

Freight shipping is not the deal breaker people make it out to be as anyone who has ordered a large TV and got free shipping knows.

Here is the thing, HT doesn't give a **** whether or not it's durable or if it'll strain over time. There are tons of threads here complaining about fading on IM suits or rubber degrading. They're not trying to make something that'll last for 10 years, they just want to sell it and be done with it.

They could have the wings in four parts that you shove together and that aren't really that strong and people will pony up for it. It'll be 1:6 if it gets done and it'll be the thing that propels them forward. Remember when people saw the Tumbler for the first time and wet their pants and then they came through with more and more vehicles? This is more of a statement of "Hey look we can" than if they should. It'll be like the Hulkbuster, one of those things that people scoff at but that a good amount order and show off proudly.

No doubt it'll sell regardless but not to this cat!

And I also have to agree that the freight shipping if the wings are one piece should not be a big deal. I just had a 600 pound 4' x 8' cedar shed (obviously box dimensions were smaller as assembly was required) delivered for a little over $100 CAD from Kelowna, BC, to Calgary. No way this puny TIE would be prohibitively expensive, shipping wise.

Um while yes TVs may sound bigger in theory but only ones that would have larger shipping dimensions would be those over 80". I am sure HT isnt going to thrown in free shipping on a box that would have to be 65 x 60 x 12 to fit and protect the wings assuming its actually 1.6 scale. Oh and that's just a box for the wings the rest would be in another box to make the box that "small"

Yeah, but who cares. If I'm buying a $2k+ TIE, am I going to balk at $150 shipping? No. In fact I'd be more than happy if HT put quality over shipping concerns and the wings are one piece.

The hulkbuster is 1/5 the size of this. While it seems huge it not all that bad and half the size of the 16 vehicles that have been made already and that Delorean next to the Tie looks like hot wheels toys next to a Kenner tie fighter.

I can tell you $150 isnt happening. I would say double that for those in the Socal area. Try 4 times more than that for the east coast.

My company ships some things that have dimensions in that range and i know how much our shipments cost. Lucky for us they are on 50k+ sales not 2k sales.

So explain how I got a 600 pound shed shipped 602 km for about $120.00 CAD. Shed itself was $1800, so ironically probably less than we can expect for the TIE.

Well, I am super happy to see this. Potential price and shipping aside, I really hope this gets made at its SDCC scale. Even considering the size, the Tie Fighter is still a rather simple design compared to some other huge SW vehicles they could have attempted and would make sense for HT to test the waters with. The success of something like this could only lead to the production of my ultimate want... 1/6 Batwing from '89 movie.

Go do a rate quote plus who was the shipping company.
Can't do a quote without registering but my shed was shipped with Sameday Worldwide. Just checked the invoice and it was 689 pounds shipped 668 km for about $130.00 CAD. Don't have the dimensions of the box as the driver disassembled everything as he unpacked it and handed me the parts from the tailgate, but I would estimate 5' x 4' x 4' or so. Anyway, that's the last I'll mention of it since I can't imagine that this is captivating reading, but if they could do that I'm sure SSC and HT could figure something out.

Indeed, let's hope it happens. I've already got a spot picked out if it does come to pass, haha.

Then you could recreate this.

Yep. HT would probably make it as flimsy as the Batmobile. If would look great but feel cheap and sag over time.
