Yeah, I can get that. I'm not saying it wouldn't be an outstanding display, regardless, but if HT can make the support invisible by incorporating the metal strut into the wing arm and increase the build quality, seems like a win/win. Ideally I'd like a display like this free standing and not in a giant cabinet or on a pedestal or shelf.I see. Luckily I don't need the "illusion of flight" or anything like that, I just want as close to an actual 1/6 TIE Fighter as I can get. I don't see support struts as any different then all the stands we use to hold up 12 inch figures. Sure it takes away the illusion of them just standing there but honestly when I look at my figures I don't even really notice the stands anymore.

I wonder if 1/6 collectors would be interested in smaller-scale vehicles from HT, say a four-foot long Falcon and other vehicles scaled off of that. Sure they wouldn't be 1/6, but they'd be much more feasible from a production standpoint, no?
At this year’s Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong (ACGHK), Hot Toys will bring a “Star Wars Galaxy Exhibition Powered by Hot Toys” to the exciting annual event! Following the 1/6th scale Millennium Falcon teaser we have shared yesterday, we have some more news to share with you all on what else will be displayed at the exhibition!
Earlier at San Diego Comic-Con, Hot Toys has shown a 1/6th scale TIE Fighter prototype that has surprised many Star Wars fans with its size and great details all around! And now, we will be bringing TIE fighters to the upcoming ACGHK and showcase them for the first time in Asia!
Star Wars fans remember to come to Hot Toys’ booth (E15-16) to check them out between July 24 – 28!
Sure, but wouldn't it be better if they built it right and we didn't have to look at metal struts? Honestly, I just don't get the idea of trying to save a few bucks by not having the best build quality possible. A 1:6 TIE is something I wouldn't have thought possible as a mainstream release prior to this SDCC, so crossing my fingers that HT is not listening to you guys () and builds this in such a way that sagging wings are not a concern. Also hoping the wings themselves are one solid piece. If they cut a bunch of corners then my interest will be greatly diminished. Guess it'll be price dependent at that point....I don't even mind the metal supports either.

From HT facebook:
So they're calling it a "prototype" not a display piece and they're bringing more than one to Ani-Con. I think I need a bigger house...
Oh, absolutely agreed (I have an ED still boxed up in my basement I need to get around to applying a rubber moisterizer to or sealing with Mod Podge, depending on what I discover when I open the box). I expect shoddy workmanship (with a really nice veneer -- at least to start) to be honest, but am hoping against hope that due to the scale of the TIE (and the license itself) that HT will go the extra mile and make it to last.Would flimsy wings or an overall chintzy Tie Fighter surprise you though? It's the same company that didn't listen to people about ED-209's rubber deterioration and repeated the same mistake on their 2.0 version years later... You pay for the size and the detail really, not necessarily the construction.

It's the same company that let faulty wiring and broken wheel axles from shoddy construction slip into their Tumbler vehicles. They sent out crooked/bent TDKR Batpods and scratched '89 Batmobiles!

Wow - a new era in 1/6 has begun. The mega-1/6-vehicle era is upon us.
A 1/6 TIE and X-Wing displayed on wires from a high ceiling would be about as awesome a display was SW fans could imagine.

LMAO. I have no idea how I will afford this but I really want this. I hope there is a very generous FlexPay on this one and that it's cheaper than we're all expecting.
