HT stuff is all based on pop culture. That's the difference. If anything its kitsch, not Barbie.

A buddy of mine always busts my balls, asking if I got any new dolls in. It bothered me at first, but we're good friends, so now I just play along. I even call them dolls now on occasion. It's just something you have to get over I guess. However, I am a little bit private about my collection to people who don't collect. I drop hints here and there, they all know I'm an unapologetic geek who reads comics still, but I'm in no rush to show my co-workers pics of my collection. Usually when I sell a piece on Ebay for hundreds of dollars and make a nice profit, I'll show a few friends at work the completed auction.

Another buddy came over and saw the statues, and hardly gave a second look, which I was shocked. No reaction, pro or con... and he knows Marvel. He had no opinion on Doom, or Venom, or Iron Man, so I didn't know what to think. I didn't show him my HT collection in the "office."

then another buddy demanded that I open the doors of the curio so he could see all the detail, which I really appreciated.

You never know how people are going to react to these things. Most people don't know they even exist.

I show my co-workers some of my custom work and everyone really seems to respect the fact that it's my own creation and sort of art in a way.

Family members respect my work as well.

Oh yeah, let me go get a pink corvette to put all my Batman, Joker and horror guys in so they can go to Malibu and get sun tans :lol
