He looks shinier in this photo than the promos, I was worried he had more of a flat paint job leading me to think they’d do an inevitable “chrome” version later on.

This could be a buy… needs an R2 though, do we think an OT version is coming as I can’t decide whether the one in the photos is a modded AOTC R2 (I’m blind to most of the diffferences between R2, Vader and Stormtrooper suits unless they are side by side)

Glad they posed the figure standing upright instead of leaning back. Midsection and chest look proportional here.

But boy does that stand add a lot of height. I like the design but I’d expect to see it with a more stand-alone figure like a golden trooper or glowie Iron Man. Not with a figure that would accompany others like Threepio.

Kind of feels like it sacrifices practicality to make the figure look more premium.

Maybe Hot Toys (or at least Sideshow) consider tackling a Death Star Droid next...

The torso gap looks ok there and as @Felinx pointed out, his bicep pieces are the wrong way round.
Gap and paint look better, the proportions on the chest are slightly off but look better in that photo as well. Head still seems just a touch small to me.

Han Solo reveal NEXT please.
Collections are built on hope. :lecture

Sideshow seems to no longer do any figures. Hot Toys can't care less about background characters, we are lucky they do at least some of the major ones. We need some serious competition for HT with SW license.

Hot Toys pisses me off sometimes. OT R2D2 without a stand and now OT C-3PO with a high stand. How the **** are we supposed to display them together?

Definitely. Something less pricy than InArt. Maybe a “normal” line of figures, as a direct competitor to Hot Toys?

Based on photos above I'd give it a solid B, maybe B+. I don't find the pistons jump out at me, the belly looks fine; chest is a little off but the head is still looking undersized, like some of their Iron Man figures. It'll look quite good in a display though. I don't know why they chose to pose it with the eye damage -- that's so distracting LOL.

This looks great! At last!

Talking about accuracy... I've had the Tamashii for so long now that I almost forgot how the real C-3PO looks...

I think this release by Hot Toys is more accurate to the real thing...

I will be staying with the Tamashii though. It's a very important piece of my collection now and I appreciate it a lot despite its flaws.

Here I leave a pic of both the Tamashii and the Sideshow.
I think the Hot Toys may be the best of the three... except for the hands... and light system maybe.

I'm going to develop an OCD wince every time I see him on that stand towering above everybody else, but it'll be too tough to pass this up. More than usual, I wish there was some way to know when the "next" version was coming. There has to be one, but really don't want to wait 5+ years for an episode 4 or 5 version with a regular stand.

:dunno Ummm... Ok then.

I'd say stands make these figures look more like High End collectibles showcasing a character rather than large action figures and dollies.
Everyone has different taste, of course -- but the only time I've perceived this to be the case is with uniform, custom stands. Almost every single HT stand I've seen looks cheap to me.
