It's not because of the die cast that I like - is only part of it - but the fact the figure captures C3PO(Anthony Daniels) very well even without hip articulation... in another word the human anatomy was done on this figure perfectly. It looks so natural in every angle. I can't describe it accurately unless you have it in hand... something about this figure that I adore so much. Only thing I am missing is R2, and from most of the reviews, SS R2 is not delivered up to hot toys standard.

Yeah. I think I'll stick with my Tamashii purchase and wait for the R2 from Hot Toys

VERY similar to the Tamashii.

Those have many areas where they don't equate. Like the chest (see where it meets the underarm). Or the hips. Waist girth. Those little bars at the neck. That's just at first glance.

I never felt that the Tama looked like a man could fit inside. Long neck and extended shoulders.

Both look to have good thumbs though.

Looking at the Tama and the HT side by side I still much prefer the look of the Tama. Would be interesting to have SS's 3PO added to a comparison shot.

And let's not forget to compare heights because sideshows is taller than it should be. Still looks great but out of proportion for the scale. Tama is already the right height even if it's not 100% accurate it's still a good scale. Hot toys R2 looks like it will be bigger than Sideshows so that's most likely a plus already.

Yeah, just based on what we've seen I kind of prefer the Tama, but really want to see more pics of the HT. Hope someone handles it on video to see it from different angles and see the articulation. It's a very impressive effort even if I don't feel it works as an OT 3PO. I may get it anyway. I really like 3PO on the shelf.

I may have to switch over to the HTs C3P0...I was going to purchase the Tamashii version costing me $400 US but the seller told me he actually had sold the last one he had. I figure for $100 US more I can get Threepio and Artoo. I don't mind the TFA Threepio with the red arm. The only thing is the waist section. But whatever.

The Hot Toys C-3PO also had a golden arm I assume you could switch the red arm with in the first picture posted.

Not sure if this rebelscum pic was posted yet

aside from the little bit of girth to 3p0s torso, thats a damn gorgeous pair!

Head looks wider than the Tmashi, feet are definitely smaller and of course the other obvious changes, such as stomach wires chest and right leg.

The wires look like they are painted, but still wires...not plastic.

yeah that big ribbon computer cable is what is bothering me about threepio.

I could let the rest slide... but that ribbon very obviously makes this a non OT character, and for sake of sanity and wallet I'm not doing any TFA, witholding for as much OT as I can afford.

I do hope he is diecast!

But yeah I'm completely an OT guy in terms of collecting...but i am getting 3 TFA figures (Chewie, R2, C3P0) but the characters are from the OT. I don't know...gives them a unique look kinda. And that will be all my SW heroes as well.

Threepio looks kind of boxy!

Daniels was very thin in the 1970's/80's but is now a little heavier, so they had redo the costume. They said it was also for comfort. You can see it in the TFA pics - it's not just the torso (from side and front) that's thicker, but the upper arms and ankles too. HT has just followed that.

Especially in the area below the old-school computer cables.

:lol

They should have gone with a rainbow ribbon cable for the very wide/fat cable in his midsection - very 70's/80's retro.
