Just thinking about this today - Kit’s price is $556. If the Trump tariffs become a thing, and I’ve seen 60% rumored, that could add hundreds to this figure on delivery. 60% of Kit’s price is $333 - a $889 figure.

Really makes you think about the future this hobby.

This is what concerns me about POs at this point. If the tariffs happen -- which Trump seems bent on pursuing -- then there will be cancelations galore and I might be better off waiting to decide/see what happens. If I feel the tariff price is worth it, I'm certain there will be stock available from cancelations.

I do not think in this case InArt nor Kit would be willing to eat the tariff on this. It would get passed on. I don't think they'll be 60%, but another $100/$200 or so would be excessive given the already steep price.

Really don't know what to do... I feel the figure is over-priced to start, but want to support InArt... but then the looming tariffs could really break the bank for me here.

Yup. Everyone needs to brace themselves for the possibility that this hobby could get a whole lot more expensive soon.

All I'm aware of is the removal of de minimis for Chinese imports which was a bipartisan proposal. I really doubt that 60% or whatever by Trump will pass. The prices will go up for imports under the removal of de minimis which really sucks but the terms of those are very specific and is mostly targeted at Chinese made goods.

we'd be good ordering direct from Kit right? He's not paying tariff's the US company pays the tariff which then gets trickled down to the buyer. But if we are buying the product as a consumer directly from Kit I don't think we will be affected.

I think Sideshow's prices for all their stuff will increase though. It might be cheaper to buy HT direct from Kit now.

I think so. Technically, Kit isn't "importing" goods. He's buying them there and shipping them out to various locations.

But yeah, Sideshow is an importer, so they would be affected.

I don’t think the tariffs are specific to imports - I get the sense a lot of it would have to do with where the products were manufactured. Kit might be selling direct from Hong Kong but if the country of origin is listed as China (and we all the Chinese love slapping that “Made in China” on the box), it’s most likely going to be subject to the tariffs.

But it really depends if Trump is going after importing or manufacturing. If he’s doing the tariffs under the guise of bringing manufacturing back to the US then there’s a good chance that where the product is manufactured is the source of the tariffs, and then buying from Kit won’t save anyone.

Nope. Once that de minimis exception is removed, kit would have to detail what that thing is being mailed. Either the total cost of the product increases to cover the added tariffs or we get billed afterwards. Who knows how it will work.

If it's made in China, high chance of paying more. But again, the proposal for that is specific to what items are made from China. Whatever Trump is proposing is a whole different matter.

Also on the whole law making process and tariffs the amount of due process that takes place from a Bill to being created into a Law to being implemented takes months and with him not taking office until Jan 6-7th hes not going to focus immediately on tax/tariff as someone with a bit of political science study and keep track of active bill creation you can see with this link theres a border bill, gang bill and a few others so it will be some time if ever we see a price hike like that https://www.congress.gov/most-viewed-bills

Even if his tariffs don't directly effect these things, the retaliatory Chinese tariffs will.

I hear what they pay in England and all over Europe. If that happens here, I'm going to be dropping a lot of lines... and LOTR will be at the top.

If its really going to be 60% like I've been hearing here then it will be 3x worse than in England.

Maybe this will be a good thing, will get some of us to quit this addiction and be free.

I read someone say that this change is based on imports that compete directly with US based products, which most figures don't. I could be completely wrong though and that person could've been talking out of their ass, didn't do any research of my own.

Either that, or U.S. city streets will have stalls that along with the cheap watches and Tshirts, there's knockoff 1/6 scale figs. 😁

Anyway InArt is so slow about production there will be another administration in charge by the time Thorin is put out, if ever.:monkey3

I just need ASMUS' Thranduil - which according to them is already in production - and get the last of my POs in, if that's how it's gonna be.

Be ironic if we became the "knock-off" country in the future.

Future brag: Now that regulations are gone, I got this fantastic 1/6 American Darth Vader made with lead paint and filled with red dye #5 for only $79.99.
