Nice to see HT continue with nods to TCW, smart move on their part. All I have to get is a new hat and a toothpick.

But really.. tall, unique alien figure. Three face plates and it’s actually a bit less if you get the standard. The Todo is a worthy addition for $20 more if you’re a fan of TCW.

I think all things considered this could have been priced way higher. I was expecting over $300. The fact that it’s not makes me happy.

The deluxe with Todo and rocket boots being included makes me wonder if they were working on a CW version and pivoted once the live action one was revealed. It’s kind of odd he has accessories from a different show/medium but maybe Lucasfilm went for it because they knew of their work on the CW version and didn’t want it to go to waste? I’d be really curious to hear how this one developed.

It probably just further reaffirms that they're not doing an animated version, since they included Todo with this one.

If anything Sideshow would make an animated stylized version of Cad with their Clone Wars figure line. The figure would look cool with his animated sculpt + big hat though if someone does a custom sculpt/hat for it.

I feel like this version can work well enough as both. If Hot Toys would have done him from TCW they would have stylized him to look realistic anyways. Since he showed up in live action it makes sense to just do that version.

I’m just glad a version of him is being made at all. I considered trying to track down the old Sideshow figure where he’s in Clone Trooper disguise but now I’m glad I didn’t overpay for that figure.

Possible, but unlikely IMO. I’m thinking this is the same as the Clone pilot with TCW helmet. They see an opportunity to cater to both audiences and make a few extra bucks without having to double-dip the figure. I think this is the only Bane we get.

I’m relatively new to 1/6th but I’m genuinely curious: why are the release dates so far out? I absolutely get that the tailoring, painting, manufacturing, etc. all take awhile, but is that really the case or is it a buffer for some other unstated reason? I only ask because it seemed like they produced a lot of the Armorer in kind of a surprise reveal that were ready to go.

Again, genuinely curious if someone can shed some light on this because ~1.5-2 years seems like an inordinately long time (I assume it’s very possible based on last releases he could slip into ‘24).

Right now, HT has a huge backlog of figures to complete. This one is completely new, as in new head sculpt, new outfit, new accessorie - everything. Some of the recent troopers and Mandalorians have bits of armor that can simply be reused for new figures, so the turnaround time is less.

Another factor is, even with the backlog stuffed full of upcoming figures, HT continues to put up POs which come with a release date quite a ways away.

Hot Toys is a relatively small company and there are parts of the manufacturing process that can get really bottlenecked like head sculpt painting.

Since Hot Toys figures are limited production but not numbered and capped, they would also want to take an assessment of customer preorder and retailer order demand before things get really moving.

There's also the approval process. Working with big corporations and their very high value brands means a ton of back and forth work. A lot of things are also kept secret from licensees until last minute or till after audiences have seen it. That all means they could be working on getting the final prototype approved for a very long time, further delaying the start of production.

But this is not unique to Hot Toys; collectibles in general tend to always had very long lead times. It's just not a fast moving or flexible industry and there's always a lot of parts to juggle.

On top of that, they've had to further pad out the ETA a bit due to potential complications and supply issues. It's better to give themselves more time with a date that's further away than keep delaying it. People don't mind as much having the ETA date be a while off but they do start to get very antsy when something gets delayed, especially if it's delayed multiple times.

Wow he looks incredible. I haven't even seen BoBF yet, but I would get him just for the CW appearance! Definitely ordering the deluxe!

Unfortunately that 2 year wait time is pretty realistic at this point. There are occasions where HT will bump a figure ahead of schedule for some reason, the Mandalorian Boba Fett comes to mind, while others languish even longer behind than their original estimate. Take the estimate with a grain of salt.

Figures like the Armorer are ‘Toy Fairs’ exclusives, aka convention exclusives. HT priorities those because they are meant to be sold in-person at specific conventions. Those generally have just a short preorder wait time of a month or two with Sideshow, who sells them outside of the conventions. Sometimes these are overproduced and other times greatly underproduced.

I dont watch the clone wars but even though I thought BOBF was just so-so, I do like the design of this character, need the spaceman suit for the duros at the mos eisley cantina
