Cad was always at the top of my wish list and this looks stellar!

All it’s missing is a larger hat but hopefully someone does a run of those.

I'm gonna sound old, but I remember buying my original Sideshow Jedi Luke for around $50 and Aragorn for about $60 or whatever it was back in the day and feeling like "wow this is a lot for a figure, but it looks so good!"

Now, here we are at $300 base HT figure and thinking "yea that seems pretty good for what you get" :lol

I know I've mentioned the following many times before but when the price just gets to a certain point (number waivers), it just isn't worth it to me anymore and I would rather put the funds towards something else entirely (or just not spend it.)

As far as old figures go, I remember when Sideshow released the Frodo and Sam "Lord of the Rings" figures for $65 bucks and collectors grabbed torches and pitchforks, arguing that since these were "hobbits" and thus smaller sized figures, they should cost less than regular sized figures...

When I started buying Sideshow Star Wars on ebay they were £20 each - Boushh, Bib Fortuna, Luke Jedi, the Jabba's Palace Creature sets, Rebel Comandos.

This seemed a good deal for the upgrade over the Kenner/Hasbro range.

By the time of Lando and the Stormtrooper the prices were in the £60-£70 range. Unfortunately I never got Hammerhead, Greedo or the Tusken back then.

That was my problem with him. He was literally a cartoon spoof of Lee Van Cleef's characters.

If it wasn't for Todo 360 I'd have passed, but the little droid made me want to like Cad. Seeing how tall he was hasn't helped, but he's an alien, and Hot Toys don't make many. (Even the Tuskens and Jawa didn't have discernible alien faces).

He's the first Duros too, which was a classic 1977 cantina species known then simply as "Goggle-Eyes".

While he was inspired by Lee Van Cleef, his live action appearance at 6' 4" is more in-keeping with Clint Eastwood. His blasters are even based on the pair of Colt revolvers in The Outlaw Josey Wales (both in the movie and the original novel, The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales), which this fan art spoofed:

The Colt 1851 Navy was actually used as the basis for his LL-30 blasters, and even retained the distinctive loading lever.

EDIT:

Josey Wales had a pair 1847 Colt Walker's, but the Navy was likely an easier revolver to get hold of for customising into Cad's blasters.
The only reason I'm getting this is for the two connections mentioned above: Google-Eyes and Van Cleef/Eastwood references. The Best of the Bad.

Now you're looking at £30 for a Hasbro 6" figure, no wonder kids need iPads etc. these days it's cheaper than toys in the long run :lol

Deluxe ordered. I did go with TW (I know I know!) but I had a TON of points which covered the entire cost of the figure. I have some left over which will make Boba $139 so I’m likely to order him too

I’m sure a third party will come along and make a CW bigger brim hat

Todo 360 will be mine, oh yes.

As a character the droid has some age to him now, having first appeared in TCW S02E01 in 2009.

I found the original OT concept art that inspired Filoni's creation of Cad Bane (it had been deleted from Wookieepedia).

“Cad Bane [was inspired by] Lee Van Cleef's Angel Eyes from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly… Filoni [also] came across an unlabeled concept illustration from the original trilogy of a gun-toting spacer with a wide-brimmed hat.”

I was hoping he would have come with the bigger hat and his rifle from the clone wars but I honestly can’t remember when he actually used it in the show. The Hasbro figure came with it so I assumed any 1/6 figure produced would come with it. Would be cool to see him on his speeder too. That thing was awesome in the show.

I also think the BOBF outfit is too brown overall. Should have had the black pants he had in CW to break up the brown monotony.

I wouldn't assume that he'd come with anything that didn't appear in the show. It's honeslty a miracle we got Todo and the rocket boots.
