I heard on the radio today about a push to make Cap gay and Bucky his love interest lmao

tumblr fandom is the absolute worst kind of fandom

I really hope we see more from Sharon come IW... not just as Cap's girlfriend, but as an agent worthy of being assigned to guard the greatest supersoldier in history. She had a great start in TWS. Unfortunately Civil War was too packed to allow her a bigger role.

Imo I'd rather see Sharon as anything but Steve's girlfriend. I just don't think them being together is an important part of the story, especially when it comes to something as large as IW. I'd rather see Sharon in an agent role first, and a love interest second.

Theres nothing but love interests in this marvel world. Banner and widow, vision scarlet witch etc.. i think its nice for steve to fall in love with someone as close to the kind of person peggy was. So sharon is logical and a compliment.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Sharon. I think she's not "super" enough and people translate that into boring or a weak point. She's just a person and that's not what we expect going into these films. She didn't bother me one bit in any film.

I thought it was good.. Not just for being an interesting story, but it may help someone who isn't "normal" feel a little more comfortable with themselves, which is never a bad thing. They aren't totally redoing the character.

Yeah give it a year or so and this storyline will be retconned somehow. Major changes rarely last long in comics. It could be interesting while it lasts. I thought Doc Ock as The Superior Spider-Man would suck but it sort of surprised me.

was my reaction when I read it as well. Most of it is just based on personal erotic fanboy artwork that some people made between him and Bucky, so they want to see their fan work come to life.

The concept of two males being good friends with no latent homosexual urges towards one another is apparently unprecedented these days.

I suppose next that in the DCEU, Wonder Woman is actually a transexual and Superman and Batman now after becoming allies, realize that they need to take their relationship to the next level.

I don't think it's that at all, actually (though I'm bias, because I ship Stucky). I think it's more to do with the fact that people want representation in their heroes, and the hashtag campaign itself isn't actually Stucky specific, it includes all varieties of ships - Steve/Sam, Steve/Tony, etc. Most of the media that's reporting on it though just assumes it's only Stucky those people want. Personally I feel like it's more to do with the fact (from a Stucky pov) that if Bucky was a woman, all of the lengths Steve has gone to to protect Bucky, save Bucky, etc, would be seen as romantic. But the fact that Bucky's a man means those feelings are only platonic.

Not that you can't do all of that for a platonic relationship, of course, but like I said - if Bucky were a woman, "til the end of the line" would be seen as inherently romantic because of society's heterosexual and heteronormative ideologies.

Everyone reads things differently I guess it's just up to the audience as to how they interpret everything on screen!

I kind of agree though. I'd rather Steve be single, especially in IW, because I feel there's too much ground to cover in the two parts and shoe horned romance for anyone, let alone Steve, will take away time that could be used on the story. Small moments I can live with, but we don't need to see dates and such
