I wonder when he’ll discover Revenge of the Sith had clones in it. Looking in my crystal ball I’ll say 2025 for the 20th anniversary. Until then we’re stuck with every possible variant of the 501st… well, apart from the ones people actually want like Fives and Echo.
As for The Bad Batch, I’m really torn on which I want to see first. The heart says Wrecker, the head says one of the other two because they’re the most likely to end up in the Hot Toys bin.
He'll take the easy route as long as he can, because it makes economic sense to reuse moulds by issuing repaints.
At some point the various toy companies will have nagged Disney enough that the Bad Batch will decide to repaint their armour as well.
It's a never ending process, and I keep telling myself that I won't get drawn into every new Star Wars. I inevitably do get drawn into some of it, and never manage to keep to a cut off point that would limit where the collection goes.
I envy those who collect only the classic iterations from any franchise.
The Bad Batch are right at the outer limit of my interest in Star Wars, but so far they're looking so good as figures in their beaten up, motley armour. Hence my initial intention to have them represent mercenaries from the OT period. However, I got suckered into ordering CW Ahsoka, and I've walked round the collection room numerous times wondering where she'd fit in. The answer is "nowhere", apart from with the Bad Batch.
