On the latest Ask Sideshow round of questions, they mentioned looking into different ways of lighting up the lightsabers for future jedi releases... and mentioned a NEW Darth Vader being shown in early 2012. Maybe this figure will also see the same lightsaber treatment? I assume Hot Toys and Sideshow are working very closely on this as I believe they also did for the clone trooper weapons.

I admit i'm a sucker for light up crap. Lightsabers would be high up there, but it's not a big deal to me. Though, i would think if medi is doing it, HT can do it better!

Next to Superman, this is just about a grail figure for me. (both are pretty high up there on the epic list for me)

I have to say, I have the medicom Enterbay UU Luke and the saber is cool but it's novelty wears off quick. If it was brighter and a bit more realistic instead of an obvious LED in the handle I would be a lot more stoked about getting one.

I'll definitely preorder this figure either way.

it would make sense if they were calling it the Dagobah DX... but it is not. it is the Bespin DX.

it doesn't make sense to include it at all.

I would say quite the opposite, the Dagobah outfit is the Bespin fatigues. He has the undershirt on. They'll include it, all of their figures seem to have quite a few layers of clothing.

I'll be really happy if he comes with a light-up saber, he would be the first jedi in my collection, i have no desire to pick up the older ones after looking at this one. Presumably, all newer jedis/vaders will be light up.

the undershirt isn't in question... it is the muscle body that was being discussed.

Last I heard I thought they were planning on 3-4 per year?

Not according to an interview with Howard Chan of HT(from their facebook page).

"Unlike any other film figures introduced by HOT TOYS, Star Wars figures do not have a problem of timeliness as the movie is the Classic of all sci-fi films. “I believe that slow works yields fine products, so I plan to produce one design every year. So far, I have neither a plan for other series, nor an idea of next character for the DX series. All I wish is to produce an authentic Star Wars figure that has a taste of the 80s.” said Howard."

Thanks for that link :duff That's a bummer, but my wallet just sighed in relief. On the plus side, like Howard said, "slow work yields fine products," and I want all the Star Wars releases to be perfect.

that looks awesome man, great work...really like the dirt on the suit and all the little knicks!

I'm glad they started with Bespin Luke, he's my all time favorite figure. I'm just kind of poopy because a week after I finished my Bespin Luke I found out HT was making him and their's blows mine away. Talk about timing.
