LOL@ "poor" likeness of Luke

Get outta town! To each his own i guess. (and it'll probably look even better when released)

All in the eye of the beholder, I guess. I really like both sculpts and HT's captured Luke for me, even if the likeness is not 1:1 Hamill (I would use the preview pic of SSC's Neyo as an example of a sculpt that to me is unacceptably off).

As for price, $300.00 is not bad for 2 complete figures, 2 stands and the weather vane prop. Compare that to the only other Luke offering -- Medicom's single figure $300.00 figure whose likeness, IMO, is seriously flawed. I think HT's offering is more than fair by comparison, but may as well agree to disagree.

I think it's possible to gauge the accuracy of sculpts, so I don't believe it's a only matter of opinion or "eye of the beholder". A nice general sculpt? Yes, I agree. But a match for Mark Hammil worth the asking price? No.

And I agree, the Medicom figure is an absurdity on many levels- likeness of way off, accessories are nothing special (boots suck), and price is laughable. But that's standard for anything released by Medicom.

And I know it's a 2 figure set- so that's maybe $125 per figure with the rest for the antenna. I still think $100+ for a 12 inch action figure is far too high. Especially when the likeness is off. My point was that if any company is going to charge $300 for an otherwise nicely done set, two figures or not, PLEASE get the likeness correct! Is it too much to ask, Hot Toys/Sideshow/etc/etc?

my first HT DX figure was Keaton Bats....

THIS Luke will be just as AMAZING!!!
the stand alone and the BD head/vader mask are Fkn awesome!

I think Mark Hamil is a tough likeness to get right.
I see even the best artists getting a certain likeness but rarely nailing it like they might do some ones else.
Understandable too as his face does change quite a bit from movie to movie. Heck I think even from scene to scene in the case of Empire.

I think you are right- it is a tough likeness- not only does he look different from movie to movie, but you're right, he can look a bit different from scene to scene too. I think he has one of those faces that change a lot with various expressions and can look different from different angles. I don't think anyone will be able to nail down the "perfect" sculpt of him.

Good points all round. :)

How much longer is the wait on this one?
Feels like it's been an eternity......
I'm worried that this will be the only figure in this line too as no other figure has been shown :(

It was delayed til August...

I wouldnt be worried about this being the only figure though. HT has said that they're only planning to release 1 SW figure a year, therefore, we'll prolly see a new figure announcement around SDCC just as this was shown at SDCC last year

But to be honest HT has sooooo much other crap they still hasn't shown anything for, I doubt SW is at they top of their list. The only way this will be at the top is if it sells like IM and Batman have, then will you see much more from Ht regarding SW figures most likely

I want doc brown to hop in the delorean, go back to 1980, chop off mark hamils head, shrink it down to 1/6 scale, and put it in the box that gets shipped to my house from sideshow. Then I'll be happy. LOL

I may be in a select few here but I like both sculpts the way they are.

Remember when Gentle Giant laser-scanned the Matrix cast members' heads for their mini-busts? I thought that was going to be the future of sculpting (though even back then it was too late to do a young Hamill).

And I agree, the Luke sculpts are great (better than the initial prototype that was shown, or it could just be the different paint job).

From some angles I like the regular sculpt, but in some it does look off to me. I think the BD looks fantastic and is easily one of the best I've seen of him.

I really can't wait to get the Exclusive Vader head; I've already got a spot picked out for it under my Yoda Hut display :rock

Jesus, every time I look in here I think there is some update. Instead we have Indy part deux. Ugh. He looks fine to me.

Don't get to excited for updates... last I heard he was delayed until August. So enjoy the summer and come back ready for school and the DX Luke :lol

I agree with the major consensus. The sculpt may not be perfect, but neither was the Christopher Reeve Superman and they fixed it for the production run. I have faith that HT will give us an awesome sculpt in the end.( could be the reason for the delay )
