You know I am going to pass on this (It's not an easy decision as I love Star Wars). For the price it's going to cost, it's just not iconic enough for me. Now if it was Tatooine Luke from ANH with a Binary Suns background, I would be even more tempted and would probably break down and get it

Overrated or over priced??

Niether...I just do not want to get in to another line.

I think it looks awesome. As I have always stated...I don't care if the figure looks like the actor as long as it represents the character well and this figure goes all the way to doing that.

Money might be an object right now...but normally it is not, and by the time this one gets released, it would not be. I am more thinking that the whole "HT doing Star Wars" thing is going to end up like nearly every other HT line...a few sporadic figures from time-to-time and no real commitment to a real extensive selection. I could be wrong as this is certain to be a big money-maker for them. But I have a feeling that they will be limited due to Sideshow having the last word (not that I am dogging on Sideshow...I love their stuff, I don't have the hate that a lot of people do...I even like Bespin Han Solo).

That all being said...I want that weather vein...badly.

But that could be customized pretty easily too.

Sideshow does and HT is working with them it was on HT facebook page enough said... Kind of like when HT and Sideshow teamed for the T2 line... :lecture
I am well aware of that, it seems that many people seem to think HT can do what ever they want with the SW line now which is just not true.

i don't know. i'm liking the overall figure but i keep seeing Johnny Depp in the mouth area.

You, Sir, have nailed it!
That is exactly it!

I kept wondering who it was I was seeing and you are correct, the mouth is very Johnny Depp-ish.

As for the Medibay/HT comparison, I think both are interpretative sculpts. I tend to like HT's better, not because the likeness is necessarily better, but because it conveys the character better for me.

Excellent post. Agree wholeheartedly. The HT sculpt is off. I will still buy it.

Comparing the UU Luke with this is just silly IMO, both sculpts are off, both are cool. I actually love the UU Luke, but I know it has its fair share of problems. I'm hoping this DX can be improved though, I actually have more of a problem with his expression than anything else. The UU Luke has at least got a suitable Skywalker expression. This I feel looks kinda weird and creepy. The outfit is outstanding. And special mention for the belt which looks amazing.

I'm sorry i'm a Medicom fan and all, but comparing the UU to this is like comparing Taco Bell to Filet Mignon.

Looking at the clean sculpt again I agree with whoever said it looks more like a pre-"motorcycle accident" Mark. Its still Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker but I do hope they tweak it to reflect how he appeared in Empire. The nice thing is worst case scenario I can always just display him with the BD face.

I find it so humorous when i read posts like this... Most of the time they come from people who display the sideshow starwars figures proudly... then complain when the HT likeness isn't %100.

I currently have the Sideshow Indy on display... however lacking the HT sculpt is of the Raider's indy its still WAAAAY better.

Super.

I don't own a single Luke Skywalker figure. The reason? None of them look that great IMO.

No offense to you... You may actually be one of the few who only displays figures that are 95% accurate... although, with what I know about HTs figures... can't imagine you display many figures.
