Hey Robbie, yes the hands are in good scale for a change, but not fantastic quality to be honest, very basic looking. So I would wait until you see them inhand before buying others to make sure you are happy with them.

Thanks man.

Damn son, that's going to be nice. Maybe I'll keep the BD and do the same.

I need a bigger apartment.

The weathering on the boots is now similar to the old proto. I don't know why both the boots were clean in the final.

Anyhow, greatjob so far Rory.

No, I think the soles are too big and toyish looking, the boots themselves are great but they need more weathering and messing up. Trickier than I thought because the material doesn't really soak water or paint.

To make the BD version as screen accurate as possible. And I want the two figures to look very different. As i want to put both on display?

Thanks man, everything is subjective, and this is a great set regardless of any individual issues one might have. And as Flosi keeps saying, it's Star Wars!

Damn, that weathering looks superb,,,makes me want to grab a spare set of fatigues and do the same

Looks amazing so far Rory, are you using straight black, or a mixture of acrylic colors? And did you give it a straight-up bath and then paint on more grime in certain areas?

A mix Marf. I thought the suit was a little too brown/cream at first so I first dipped it in a grey wash (with white paint, not just black and water) then after that had dried i used a mixture of straight black and different greys.
As it dries the grey color comes up and the brown fades down. You can see the difference between the top and bottom pics. The boots as I mentioned are a little trickier than i thought they would be,
they seem almost water proof at first.

Thanks for the info. :rock Adding more weathering to this figure has been on my mind for months now, the tips are greatly appreciated. Maybe if you have time you could post a mini tutorial, I'm sure there are quite a few people that want to achieve this look. :duff

Nice work Rory, I know you want it to lighten for Bespin Luke, but a mix of those BD pants with a non BD jacket in that dark "wet" look would make for one bad ass Dagobah Luke. :clap

..drying on window sill. Color is coming up well as it dries out.

Damn!

I thought all he did was fight with his daddy.

It looks like he was shat out by a Bantha.

J/K :peace

Your weathering is amazing and is how this figure should have looked out of the box.
Fantastic job rorywan. :clap

You can buy a few old SS Star Wars figures for the price of 1 new HT figure...

Um, ok. :dunno

Just spoke with Josh at AE... They're expecting Luke to ship to them early next week and the Tusken Raider should have shipped yesterday but they've yet to get a notice, so probably today for him.

Sweet! So this isn't split. :yess:

Looks good Rory. I just started modding my figures like 3 months ago and it's addictive. I've been thinking of weathering the BD clothes but I'll wait till it's in hand to decide.

Really wish TA still had Luke parts. I didn't know I was getting this until it was too late and they stopped carrying them. Ebay has all the parts up but as usual they have hideous prices.

Wow still amazed how fast some tear down these figures right away right after getting....To each thier own looks good but couldnt do this myself like to keep mine minty ...I'm sure will turn out nice but man i guess some must do what they must to be happy with thier figure's....

But have you seen his mods?? If I had half his skills, you can bet your bottom I'd be doing the same thing. It's like buying a sports car and doing something to it to make it more super-er.

As much as i want to do the modding on some of these figures, i'm still pretty nervous, that's why id rather buy a 2nd set of what i want to work on,that way if i screw it up i havn't ruined somthing lol

For me and Im sure many others, collecting is fun but then taking them even further is where the real enjoyment comes in. It's double enjoyment.

First you get the enjoyment of buying and owning it, then the whole new enjoyment of adding details, modifications and the like.

Two hobbies in one.

That's how I am anyway.

:exactly:

Im starting to get more and more into the customizing aspect of it as well. Ive slowly started growing the balls to make changes to my figures or putting together my own customs. It does add a whole nother level to this hobby. Being able to make the figures more of your own.

Ill probably end up dirtying up the BD version of Luke more, but Ill keep the clean one "mint" just to add a bigger difference in display for the two.

Yep seen his mods and his jack joker is very impressive...I'm just saying i dont have the stregnth in me to tear something great i love apart ...It's too nerve racking if had a spare sure....but 300 bucks is a lot to me and if decide to mod later i would buy a 2nd to do so but love the brand new figure feeling as long as i can keep it that way.....its all good to each thier own world ..peace...:peace
