Of issue is that actors will lie about their heights. Mark Hamill, according to Google, is 5'9" tall (175cm). Google however also says Tom Cruise is 5'7" (170cm) and we all know he's closer to 4' (122cm), or the height of an Ewok. ;) It's probably a better idea to look at movie frames and photos to pick points of reference.

If you look at reference pics you still have to start from somewhere. Who's height do you start with? Sir Alec Guiness was 5'10", we think, and in these pics he looks at least 2 or 3 inches taller than Hamill.

I think, and this is just my opinion, after doing a bunch of online research, cause everything on the internet is true, that:
Guiness is 5'10"
Hamill is 5'7"
Ford is 6'1"
Fisher is 5'1"
Daniels is 5'9"
Prowse is 6'3"
Mayhew is 7'4"

Don't post this information in the "perfect C3PO" thread. ;) It will just be another nail in the coffin of that $400 figure.

yes, but how tall is Baker?

yes, but how tall is Baker?

Kenny Baker was 6'11" tall in 1975. When he got the role for R2D2 he underwent months of reconstructive surgery to get himself down to 3'8" tall. Originally R2 was supposed to only be 2'2" tall but doctors told Baker such a drastic shortening had never been attempted before and was too risky. Lucas re-wrote the part for a 3'7" Droid instead, forcing Baker to still have to crouch in the costume. F&cking Lucas.

Huh I never knew that.

Is that in the trivial pursuit Star Wars edition? If not someone needs to send them.an email.

What do you mean by that? Tama 3PO is 11.5 inches tall. Exactly 1/6 scale of 5'9". I must have missed something.

PERFECT then. I had only read people saying the tama was 12" tall, so I asked in that thread specifically about the height. The figure looks amazing. Looking for a deal on him now, as I'm not really willing to pay $400 at this point in time for a figure.

I got mine for $350.00 shipped. Better than $400.00 plus shipping. Good luck with the hunt. Mine was won on eBay. I'd try HLJ or AmiAmi.

IMHO, you'd be making a mistake if you pass on the figure over $50.00 or $100.00. In time the $100.00 is meaningless and 3PO's worth passing on say two or three SSC releases to make up the difference. I totally understand the sticker shock (most of us said the same thing in the beginning of that thread) but if you love 1:6 and Star Wars, I don't see how 3PO can be skipped.

It was a hard (hard!) pill to swallow paying just a bit more than $450 (shipped) for the Batman Tumbler. I've got a number of toys/figures that I wouldn't let go for $1000 (vintage stuff, VHTF), but HT's DX12 is the most expensive single figure I've ever purchased. Technically Luke Bespin DX07 was more, but that's 2 complete figures. I don't want to derail this thread, so I'll keep talking about it in the 3PO thread. ;)

I'd better make sure my wife's credit cards are maxed out, otherwise she's going to buy a plane ticket to your city and come down to give you a (few) kick(s) in the a55. ;)

Screw it, my kids will do fine with a High School education. ;)

Simple. By not being able to afford it :D

Getting the WHOLE set of avengers from Hot toys. that streached my collectables budget pretty thin this year, what with the New baby and all. It also helps that he's Diecast, and i'm not a fan of broken shelves.

I'll just hold out for the inevitable sideshow version in a few years.

I'd think you'd have to worry about a broken wife. ;) Our Baby 2.0 was over 9.5 lbs but thankfully just made of skin and bone with an ejection time of just over 3 hours. He's just about to be 4 months old and he's almost half the weight of our 3.5 year old daughter!

BTW, when my wife sees "star wars toys" she thinks "he stopped collecting those in 2000" - so she think's I'm just digging stuff out of storage. ;) Stuff based on brand-spanking-new Batman movies on the other hand....

LOL. Nah, we have rules with my collecting.

It's cash only, and it's whatever i have left at the end of the month after savings, rent, food, and bills.

And even then, i've severely cut back by alot in the past few years. I learned not to try and hide things from her. it's better that way.

It's not the money, it's worse. It's that she already thinks I have an enormous collection of toys, all of which were and most of which still are, stored in bins in my basement. Some are supposed to be unloaded and many are supposed to be set up in my new office. Obviously if I'm picking up a lot of new stuff, it means a lot of the existing stuff has no room to be displayed and therefore stays in bins - which also take up some space. ;) She really wants that space.
