Things are bound to get a bit touchy with this figure and any Indy figure, it's not too often you get 2 companies so closely making the exact same thing in this hobby to make comparisons, usually there's a fair ammount of time in between and certain variations are to be expected. In this case, you have two figures with attributes that can be seen better or worse than those of the other. It's find to share thoughts on that as long as people are civil to each other.

Well, I for one like the various incarnations of Indy. Hell even Medicom. I think there is room for all types of taste in the limited pantheon of Indina Jones memorabilia. Deckard is aight. :duff

His Han Solo is ok, but nothing amazing.

Dont be nice...sculpt is garbage...paint is pretty sharp though

Yeah, I'm not an Indy detail fan but just in general observation, I have issues with Sideshow and HT Indy, neither one gives me the sense of satisfaction I get with a lot of other figures.

At this point, I really want to see more views of the portrait. I see Ford in it and don't feel a need for tweaks, but, I get a mixed impression of that the expression on it is like, some shots look uber aggressive, others, just a bit more serious, closer to the expression Trev used. Ideally, I'd like it to be close to Trev's expression, I like that, but I would love HT's paint apps.

:lol
People use to rave about his sculpts back in the day before Trevor Grove swaggered into town and Sideshow announced its own plans for an Indy figure.
Do some digging and you'll see the post authors contemplating spending outrageous sums(in that day) for Kim recasts and originals to get their Indy and Solo fixes.
If HT lets the proto stand with out changes because its Arnie Kim they'll be making a big mistake.

That beats the hell out of Sideshow's Bespin and Smuggler releases.
I don't know if I agree with that. Sideshow's sculpts aren't very good, but neither is this one IMO. They are all about equally bad. This one may have a better paint job, but a custom paint job is gonna beat Sideshow factory work 95+% of the time.

Really? Am I reading this correctly? People are saying this sculpt is bad? Or the figure offering as a whole?

I can't say that I agree at all. Sideshows paint may be crappy, but the Ford sculpt is near perfect. It's been said already referring to the HT Indy, but Kim's Han, five years old or not, looks more like Vic Armstrong than Harrison Ford. Maybe "garbage" is too harsh, but "beats the hell out of" is awfully strong too.

There's nothing wrong with Trevor Grove's AWESOME head sculpt for the "Tatooine Smuggler" Han Solo you show in those pictures. It just got ruined by Sideshow's horrible paint job! :monkey4 There's a great sculpt under that bad paint application. I have this figure, and want to repaint it someday soon.

Do we even know beyond speculation if Kim is the sculptor?

If it's not, then I'll eat my hat. Look at the bridge of the nose and the mouth, it screams Kim. I'll be shocked if it isn't.

That beats the hell out of Sideshow's Bespin and Smuggler releases. I don't think "garbage" is being fair at all.

Well I don't like it but yeah garbage it's not.

I guess my problem with that one, and maybe I haven't been looking in the right places, is that I have never seen even a repaint that does it much justice. It looks awesome in those photos, yeah. But on the figure, even with the few repaints I have seen, it just doesn't do it for me.

The Stormtrooper SS sculpt I am fond of though. But hey it's a "smirking sculpt" and I have a weird fascination with that.

Not even mine?:(

I don't recall seeing a really great repaint of that sculpt, either, as good as it looks unpainted. But then, I haven't gone looking for the various repaints of that sculpt.

Alright, thanks for clearing it up, and that's fair. I'm a big fan of classical sculpture, so for modern comparative reasons I tend to like unpainted sculpts versus painted ones anyway :lol

Where'd you get that nice clear picture of Harrison and Vic? That's awesome, thanks for posting that one.

I nabbed the pic from this article about Vic.

Did you know he has an autobiography coming out in May? I'm pretty excited to read it.
