What other belt would relate to this topic?
It was not literally made out of metal, that would have been too heavy and hard to keep in place. He's referring to its color. Please watch this before you continue to dismiss this "wild claim." https://sma.sciarc.edu/subclip/anton-fursst-designer-of-the-batcave-clip_2556/
I'm glad that even Team Mustard Yellow is beginning to admit that these HT belts are WAY too bright.
This basically comes down to accuracy to a real world 20+ year old prop that happens to look bad under fluorescent light or in faded old stills from magazines/trading cards or what the intention of the designers were. Yes, the belt could appear to be variety shades. It all depends on lighting or what's being used to photograph it. It's just another movie mistake. It was made out of an unidentified material (as far I know) used in airport conveyer belts. Painted to pretend it's something it's not. You have to consider what it was supposed to look like, and it very often did anyway. Ringwood, Furst and Burton did not want the belt to be yellow.
Promotional art, especially something directly connected to the film like a poster, should not be dismissed so quickly. It shows what marketing people were told, and what a huge committee approved upon.
Yeah amazing stuff. As much as I love Burton's Batman movies and Furst's designs, I never thought Burton gave them the cinematic justice they deserved though.Wow Qarlo, that video is amazing. A lot of that stuff I've never even known before. Jack Nicholson improvised the whole joy buzzer scene and "Anton got a little hot under the collar" was him referencing Furst's anger on the set? I had no idea. That's great. I didn't know they were originally going to go with a black belt too.
It's a shame Anton Furst killed himself. His designs and art for the film were brilliant.

The sets were astoundingly good, but he shot them as if he didn't really care about them, which I know is kind of cool, but a little visual shot here and there would have been great.
It's sad that they didn't let Furst come back for Batman Returns, especially after winning an academy award Oscar for Batman. You could tell from articles an interviews that he was disheartened by it.
Especially when they pretty much aped his approach design wise. They made it a bit more theatrical and gothic, but it was still a progression of his work.
I wonder why they didn't use him again? Must have been a fallout of some kind with Burton.
So damn happy to see they are finally coming out with the Returns line. But where the hell are the villians? And I cant be the only one who hopes we get a Forever batman too.
They didn't "ape" his design. They made a direct sequel to the movie, set in the same city. To not continue in the same direction would have been inappropriate.
Look over all the SDCC pics again till your brain hurts. Speculate till it gets here.
- what will it come with?
- how much will it cost?
- what will the prototype pics look like?
- will it come with a Bruce Wayne sculpt?
- when will it come out?
- gone the way of Prof. X?
- cancelled?
Catwoman with alternate Selina Kyle head with rooted hair! Announce it in December. Make it happen, Hot Toys!
I maybe the odd ball here. I really hate rooted hair and I believe it shouldn't be used on 1:6 figures. I really hope Hot Toys would listen to me for once and just got with sculpted hair unless they do admit that their sculptors can't handle hair.
Full credit goes to Doc Brown at BatmanOnline for this find. I had a similar reaction but no else there seemed to care or even watch it. It's awesome to finally see another fan have a sane reaction to this rarity. It's shame that it didn't get any exposure on the silver anniversary by internet journalists & bloggers.Wow Qarlo, that video is amazing. A lot of that stuff I've never even known before. I thought we were all in agreement that the Hot Toys representations are not screen accurate?Until I see a photo of the suit, where the UB looks like brass, I won't buy it. Even the costumes displayed by WB recently for the 75th anniversary and the ones sold by Profiles In History, UB looks yellow and it's not on film. The UB always looks yellow, sometimes dark yellow, and sometimes bright yellow, but until you show me a picture of the UB looking like brass, I won't believe it. And regardless of what color it is, the bottom line is it looks yellow on film, and that's what the figure is representing, so it would make no sense for the figure to have a brass belt, when it never looked like that on film...or any photo for that matter. Anyway, I emailed Brian Chanes, he's the acquisitions manager for an auction house and he has seen the costume in person, so he knows what the costume looks like better than anyone. Hopefully, he'll answer my question.
