The paint apps on the severed head look awesome!
Can definitely tell the skin tone difference in the comp from Justin.
Am hoping the NEXT Luke that HT do is an upgrade of Tatooine Luke headsculpt.

I definitely like the DX07 BD pants and boots better (at least we know the DX07 boots will last). I'd love to try and match the DX24 jacket to the DX07 pants, as the DX07 chest pockets drive me crazy (too big, too high). And of course, use the new head. The DX24 belt is also likely better.
My DX07 boots are deteriorating. 😞 I was hoping the new ones would be better but seeing that little bit of wear in Justin’s video, which looks like what mine have done on a larger scale, worries me.

Yea I’ve seen a good many “used” DX07s on eBay that have flaking boots. As much as I really love the actual material boots vs sculpted plastic, it sucks to know that it’s only a matter of time before they’re going to turn to dust.

Good review and comparisons. DX07 definitely shows its age here.

I hope and pray for a new battle-damaged Luke Bespin as an SDCC exclusive. I think that would give me the BEST of both figures.

Imagine these two mixed together...

Dang, that DX07 outfit looks like crap, as if they balled up the outfit tightly in their hand then haphazardly threw it on the figure body.

But it really isn't fair to compare the battle damaged DX07 to the starched 12 times DX24/25...

I was trying to help out the DX07 by showing the BD version of the outfit.

Here's clean vs clean...

Then imagine how pale the new DX is...
:panic:

Fortunately for me, I think we are getting to the point where the jump in quality and/or detailing is not as drastic as it used to be... say, from Sideshow's Bespin Luke to HT's DX07. There are definite improvements on the DX24/25 but I personally don't feel the urgency to upgrade from the DX07 yet...

Perhaps an update to the head sculpt on the undamaged version would be in order for me.

Yeah. I really wish InArt would get the Star Wars license because I'm certain this iteration of Luke would be made along with a great ESB Vader. Just imagine... the perfect paring.
The day that ever happens HT will **** out better and improved Star Wars figures. Especially for the OT characters like we'll finally get Bespin Han and Chewy and a Bespin Luke 3.0 with second battle damaged figure with rooted hair.

I don't have faith that HT could do a good Chewbacca, not without the InArt pricing...

The one they made 8 years ago is ridiculous. The later versions were even worse -- lazy and worse. Now pricing is better for a redo... but have they? No. Still too costly for their margin of profit.

I think for me it's that much sharper and more distinct collar that really sells the new one to me as Bespin Luke. That mess of a collar on DX07 has always bugged the hell out of me, even if the more rumpled outfit might have fit his look in ESB better overall.

Have to agree there. The over-sized and stitched-too-high chest pockets make me crazy, but if they didn't catch my immediate attention, the collar likely would.

I'd love to have an OT Chewie in my collection. TESB Chewie with 3P0 on his back would be fantastic but like you I don't have faith in HT to to a good Chewie.
Neither of their previous attempts are all that great. The TFA one looks hilarious.

The HT Chewie was a hallmark release at the time. The ST Chewie was a step backwards. But in both instances, many Freaks were able to work on them and make them both look amazing. If HT could provide us with that, right out of the box, I would be fine with that. I probably sound like a broken record but I would pick up at least two.

As far as InArt goes, I would be happy for those of you that continue the Star Wars 1/6 scale figure collecting at InArt prices. As for me, I would basically be priced out of the line, maybe picking up one or two figures but certainly not at the pace that I've done with Hot Toys.
