I'll just rebuild any teeth and gum issues, inside dome stuff, and the hands if need be.

Damn Hot Toys...way to NOT pay attention to anything Giger did.

It amazes me that they can do so well on Preds, but seem to refuse to pull off accurate Aliens of any movie. There's always some dumb stuff they do differently than the actual design. I can't believe they waited this long to be this wrong.

So, aside from the head, hands, and color is everything else accurate?

Hands: Failed. What do they have against the second thumb looking right? They did it right on the AVP Aliens, and screwed it up slightly on the Dog, but this is just ridiculously off. It's not a fifth finger; it's a second thumb.

Skull: Failed. Less is more and more is crap. They put too much detail into the skull and made it wrong. Do they honestly think they are improving on something when they do this crap?

Dorsal Pipes: Could be better. The top center one looks totally wrong though. The others on the Aliens Warrior were pretty much the only accurate things to that piece even though they were too short.

Mouth: Could be way better, but I'm giving that some credit just because it's rubber over articulated frame.

Body: Very good with two exceptions.
-First, the shoulders should have a more pronounced ribbed tubing on them. Hot Toys kinda of rolled that under and made it less visible.
-Second, what is with the buff looking calves? They should be straighter like the forearms.

Feet: Excellent!

Tail: Excellent!

Head & dome shape and sculpt: Excellent!

First Alien to come with a base: 'Bout damn time!

If they convert this into an Aliens Warrior at some point, count me in, but I don't need this figure unless they do some major work on it before release. So far Preds and Aliens have never gotten reworked before final release, so I doubt it. Money saved.

Well as everyone has said, yes the skull is way off as are the lips. Hands too, but these don't bother me as much as the features on the head.

Still, I think it looks great and I'll definitely be getting it.

I also seem to be one of the few people that likes the "rubber skin" over the armature. Love the way it covers the joints. Granted, I only have the HT Alien Dog, but the only problem I've ever had with the dog is the frail plastic under the rubber skin. Skin has never torn or peeled.

Maybe it was a powerful flash that made it show up so much there.

Yeah, if it looks like that in person (without flash), I might airbrush some "tint" on there.

By that logic we shouldn't demand actors' likenesses in figures of human characters if we haven't interacted with said actors in person.

Agreed.

I never liked the visible eyes in the skull look so many people DO like about this ALIEN, so for me, easy fix, darken the frontal area of the dome. Done.

The mouth...it closes well enough for me, just a build up of "gum" area and add in nice, single made teeth, all to fit and slightly jut like Giger's do, and Presto! Perfect mouth. The front of the head looks about right to me, shapewise. Just gotta make sure the tongue works when I do that...

Hands, I like the loose (probably posable) fingers, so I can just pull that opposing thumb WAY back to where it goes, and pose the fingers accordingly. Looks ok....not GREAT, but ok. Probably workable. I have other Aliens from which to possibly snag hands from...or even sculpt me a set...

Colors...paint as needed.
Did it with my ALIENS one, will do anything needed here. Anything. Surface allowing of course. Might can even do a nice wash of burnt sienna or even black all over him and be done with it, if the highlights are all in place.

Actually, the more I look at it, the less fixing there is to do. I actually can see past the gold lighting and kinda like what I see here. If the production peices are anywhere near this nice, we are lucky!

Worried about the quantity of rubber and what it will amount to on a shelf in a couple year's time....

Might be the last of many such figures I get too. (what a closer!) But by God, one way or the other,he's already bought! Just show me the order page!
