Well even speaking of detail, looks like Hot Toys forgot the mole/chicken pox scar? on his chin. I would say even the paint on the hair looks much more natural on the T-800 as well.

I'd like to know what makes you think that, T-800 has a more complex paint application.

Well what do you consider so much more complex?

To me, the eye paint's the same, the skin complexion on both seems about the same, shade mixing on the hair tones. I don't really see anything special to set one out from the other, they both look up to the par that HT's figures come out with over the past year or so.

I think the overall likeness of the entire figure is better than T800. Plus like SS's GIJoes, he comes with a lot of accessories so there is so much more to do with the figure.

Unless Technoir T800 hits before the end of the year. . .

I'm looking forward to Technoir, but aside from being from my favorite Terminator movie I have the feeling that he'll be essentially the same as the T2 version in hand.

I agree with Maulfan - its a more enjoyable figure than the T-800 but nothing in particular seems better or worse as regards quality. Both are must haves for a T2 fan.

Yeah Hot Toys misses these things from time to time - like Christian Bales nose bump.

I am almost 100% sure i will favor the Tech Noir T-800 over the T2 releases, it just has so much more going on with it visually, sculpt looks better as well, love the preview pics.

But do you think you'll favor it because it will be a superior figure or just because it's T1? I think the later for me, otherwise it will probably be on par with the T2 version.

I would think absense of something like that is more intent than failure. On Bale especially, it's pretty prominent, unless the sculptors only half assed look at photos while doing the sculpts, sure the best will study the faces fully for all those details. I'd wager somethign like those moles are either a sculptor choice to clean up the face a bit or maybe even dictated from the licensor/actor. They might miss it, but just going from my own experience of drawing portraits, when I go to make a piece of art look just like someone, I look for every little unique detail that separates their face from someone else.

I was going to suggest that it was a deliberate omission to idealise the face a bit but didn't they put moles on other figures like Scarlett johanssen in the Iron Man 2 line? Or was it Jessica Biel from Blade Trinity? If you're going to idealise someone surely its them.

Well, for some people, those marks are like a trademark. While known for her beauty, Cindy Crawford is also known for her mole, if they did a figure of her, too many people would notice and possbily pass on the figure for ommission of that. Something like what's on Patrick or Bale's face, it's there, fairly prominent, but it's not a defining feature, and at least Patrick isn't really known for it. While females might seem more likely to get cleaned up, I feel like they also might be more scutinized for missing those features than males. You lose a mole on Patrick's face and most aren't going to sweat it because the portrait looks fierce and awesome, you take even the smallest thing away from a potrait of a beautiful woman figure where that portrait is a huge factor in the sale of the figure and it might get more negative attention than you'd like.

It's Jessica Biel.... a few small spots that I almost wipe them off....
