My only question about that spin is why didn't Finn cut him down while his whole midsection was unprotected? Legit question, I know nothing about swordsmanship.

Because he's used a lightsaber for like a total of one day by that point I would imagine. He was trained in melee combat but I don't think that included swords.

And plus Finn still would have had to defend himself from the attack from above, which would clearly be the higher priority. There's no guarantee Kylo would have dropped his sword the second he was struck.

Yeah Finn was busy leaning back to not get his head cut off. He probably wants to keep his head.

The swordplay isn't realistic but him going for the midsection looks like it would have resulted in a mutual kill. Having done Kendo for a bit it's hard to see all the openings during randori and I imagine it would be compounded by the added stress of fighting for your life.

We also can't really tell how close they are. It looks like by the time Kylo is in range for Finn he is already on his strike for the neck.

Yeah i bought the jakku trooper though he releases friday.....a lot of the designs have grown on me
