Thanks Cap! Realy liking Gargoyle base very fun just to big to display in cabinets. I Need to hunt down a penguin rest 89s era to add into display.

Ordered the Jaxon faceplate. Really looking forward to getting it.

Also really wish I could justify getting a second figure to fully make it battle damaged. That’s by far my favourite of the stock faceplates. Wonder if anyone has customized theirs?

Interesting! Thanks for sharing, might be a fun experiment while I wait for Jaxon’s face plate.

Looks the same to me tbh, not much of a difference.

Edit: didn't notice he removed the teeth lol

I was thinking of getting Jaxon cape as his seems great for this. To be honest I don't like Tony Mei cape all that much. If the materials are the same Jaxon did a better job from what I've seen.

Ok mine arrived today. The Deluxe set.

Personally, owning the DX09, it’s a massive disappointment.
There is almost nothing to save on this figure. HS and faceplates completely off, cowl off, eyebrows off, eyes holes off, over textured cowl with a cheap finish, too bright blue eyes for 89, incomprehensible demon batman/venom finish of the suit, bulky body with fat legs, too glossy boots, utility belt that is no more removable and has completely lost its gold/mustard accents for a bland and cheap yellow, cape material completely off which doesn’t match the suit. The old cape was a pain to futz but the material was accurate…
The bat emblem which seemed an improvement on pics is definitely undersized and too oval IMO. The bat seems crushed inside.
The skin tone is weird and gets pink accents.

They even don’t managed to do the boots soles flat… without the stand, the figure is just impossible to stand alone.

I totally respect and understand those who like this figure.
It’s still a decent representation of the character but it’s more a « random » 89 figure rather than a Keaton replica.

I hear those who will tell me that I’m too used and trained with DX09 which is maybe not perfect but honestly, out of the box, one seems like Michael Keaton in the suit and the other one absolutely not.

Can’t understand how a decade after and from the same company a new figure can’t be better than the previous one…

10 years later, the DX09 with a custom cape is still the way to go IMO…

On another hand the gargoyle base is fantastic!

I’ll keep the base and sell the figure.

I watched sooo many review videos of 2.0, and looked through so many photoshoots, trying to convince myself I wanted this figure, but I just couldn't get past the exact points you mentioned above. In the end, I wound up cancelling my pre-order, and decided to stick with my DX09, and bought him a new cape instead.

I was going to sell my Batman Returns v1 in anticipation of the Returns v2 but with how 89 v2 turned out I'll have to sit on it until release unfortunately.

I think most of us who like the figure never had the DX09.

Not sure why anyone who has that figure would buy this one other than for the base. If I'd had a DX09 I'd have spent the money on the Unreal cowl.

To be fair, the bloody face plate is the best of the three and the only one that works with the cowl and is better than on the DX09.
I suspect HT has made this weird suit finish to pair with this battle damaged sculpt but as they don’t add some weathering anywhere else, it’s weird. Like a semi-battle damaged look which is not really assumed…
