That's probably the one movie that I'll never, ever watch :lol.

It's the movie Heath should have got the Oscar for. The TDK Oscar was just an acknowledgement that they stuffed that up. A very good, not great, movie for me - but a great performance.

Yeah it's a pretty good flick as well.

A lot of people over react to the material though, even though it's not that bad. Like we are living in the 1930's again. :lol

Agreed with both. Gyllanhaul did well in it too I'd say.

Terrific movie. But I'm not a homophobe either so.....

Brokeback and TDK really showed the true talent he had. Its unfortunate he died when he was really hitting his stride.

Bull****.

He got the oscar because he delivered one of the best, if not THE best villain performance of all time.

Sure he probably deserved one for Brokeback too but I despise when people try to take anything away from his performance in TDK. 'Oh he got it cuz he should have got it for brokeback...' 'oh he only got it because he died...'

Load of crap

The "because he died" crap is a load of crap indeed. Very annoying when people actually believe that bs.

Pretty much! Ledger's performance as The Joker in TDK was stellar. I rewatched the movie three times, and I have to say that I enjoyed his acting significantly more than Chrstian Bale's strep throat version of Batman.

I'm not taking anything away from his performance in TDK. But if either of you two honestly believe that his performance was better then Seymour-Hoffman's in Doubt then I suspect you're both lacking some objectivity when comparing the nominations.

I'm not taking anything away from Heath's Joker gig. Heath was a great actor, no doubt. People have made comparisons with a young Brando. I am saying that his BB performance was superior.

And who said anything about 'because he died' Dominishin? I said it was because he'd been overlooked for BB.

To be honest chaps - I do think he won because he died. I'm not saying his performance didn't deserve the win. Its more to do with cynicism towards the academy that I believe this. Was there a precedent before 2008/9 for the academy taking the superhero genre in any way seriously beyond technical categories? His death drew attention that it simply might not otherwise have gotten.

Its so popular to slag off Bale's Batman now. Are we all forgetting that Joker wasn't in Batman Begins? That Bale carried that movie, and Bale resurrected Batman from the $h!t that was Batman & Robin?

Well i'm right behind him on that one :lecture

No doubt. I like Denzel, but he played a caricature in that role.

I really liked Bale in Begins, but for me personally, my TDK experience consisted of waiting for the next scene where the Joker appears. Eckhart's performance was very solid too, but the way Heath dominated that movie was extraordinary.

Agreed. Batman Begins is still my favorite superhero movie. Bale doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves for his potrayal of BW/Batman imo. I also think his batman voice was perfect in BB and TDKR, but not so much in TDK.

Yeah I think the voice was great in BB and TDKR, TDK voice was over the top.

Now, with the Batman voice...is it the scene where he captures Joker what really burns people's ear drums? It bugged me in that scene but as I look at it now, I just take it as he's winded and somewhat injured so he's gasping for air.

I think the first scene 'i'm not wearing hockey pads' is quite over the top and just in general I think there is too much post-effects on the voice in TDK.

In TDKR it sounds like its back to being mostly Bale's own voice

This guy is one of the biggest reasons why I want a DX 12. When I get a DX 12, though; I'm getting a second modding head.
