Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Given that Singer has already confirmed that the plan was to take however many of the "First Class" and connect them to his original X1 and X2 (he has blantantly ignored both X3 and Wolverine) I don't see why we didn't just get Magneto in something more like the Ian McKellan version at the end.

We ended up with a strange mix of the two.

Yet I liked Fassbender's performance as Magneto enough that they offered the Flight suit version and the Endgame version I would buy both.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

We need a new Wolvie figure. My God do we need one.

A battle damaged version, smeared in blood, bone claws, ripped clothing and exposed adamantium skeleton with guts and stuff, like the Marcus Wright arm only better

Ian McKellans helmet sucked balls, Fassbender's Ruled!

I'd just get the Yellow flight suit Magneto personally i didn't like the red outfit, althoug ixmd get the helmet.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Bone Claws and exposed Adamantium skeleton wouldn't make sense....

Although a battle damaged Wolverine done up like Marcus Wright would be possible if/when HT ever gets to the X3 license.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

I liked the look of the outfit at the end. Thats the one figure from this movie that I would actually buy.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

How can you say that RIDDICK, Fassbender's was more Comic accurate

Obviously coz I don't care.
Movies are movies, I like new designs and how they looks on screen.
I don't wanna see Wolverine in a yellow leotard and blue shorts in the same degree that most of ppl doesn't like in relation to Superman :lol

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

This was obviously the base for Fassbender's Endgame suit

something about all the red though made it come off strange even though it was more comic accurate. I would have been fine if the helmet had just been painted red (no crest, since it looks off) and we got more muted blacks and greys in actual attire with red highlights.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Finally saw this movie. Overall, a 6/10 for me. If this was a stand alone movie that had nothing to do with X1, X2, X3 and Origins, then I would probably give it a higher score. But since it is, as a good movie this was, it left me upset.

Figure wise, of course I would like maybe 2 figures. Definitely a Magneto (I like the end outfit). The second, maybe Charles Xavier.

Matthew Vaughn said that he didn't care about what came before, he made the movie he wanted to make. The Ian McKellan version sucked. Almost everthing Bryan Singer did sucked. Thanks the lord for Matthew Vaughn.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

X2 is still the best X-movie out there, IMO. First Class is a better film, but X2 is a better X-Men movie: more in the spirit of the comics, more well-known characters, better action scenes, and really, more fun.

See, this is what I just don't get. I agree that it had more well-known characters, but the rest just doesn't seem to be there. X2 should have really been called Wolverine because he's the only character that matchs up with his comic book counterpart. Every other character was powered down considerably and the ones that weren't we hardly saw. I like X2, but I wouldn't say it's the better X-Men film. I think First Class is a better film and a better X-Men film.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Well, 3 of the first 4 X-movies were extremely Wolverine-centric. But then, First Class was extremely Magneto-centric. First Class is more moody and dramatic, has great performances and an extremely memorable performance by Fassbender. And I do think it was the best comic movie of the summer. But X2 was the perfect storm of a good story, great action, effective tension and conflict, and well known characters doing memorable things. First class didn't have much of the last (apart from Fassbender), and the action sequences were alright, but nothing to write home about.

I'm going to have to disagree. Every character in First Class had a purpose and they were all used very well. Even the casting, apart from The Prof, Wolverine, Nightcrawler (forgot about him) was pretty bad. One of few things that I liked about X3 was that EVERYONE got to use their powers and they all had purpose. Too bad about The Prof and Cyclops thou.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

I thought the casting of Cyclops, Jean, Storm, and Mystique were all pretty spot on. I also like McKellen's Magneto, though he's obviously a bit more classic comic Mags as opposed to the modern, more complex Magneto of Fassbender.

I guess every major character in First Class had a purpose. But Banshee, Havok, Riptide, the Wasp chick, and the black guy could have been interchanged with any number of other characters to serve the same, and many of them were extremely minor (I imagine the screenwriters figured, "let's create a situation where we need a guy with Banshee's powers, and we'll toss Banshee in as a founding member" and went from there). As for being used well, most of the X-Team was filler to justify this being an X-Men origin story and not just a Magneto/Prof. X origin story IMO, but I guess they did their jobs well enough. Of course, the same could go for even the more obscure characters in X2 like "kid who watches TV."

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Yeah, the kid mutants were pretty useless. Could have had anyone in there to server the purpose. Them along with Jones as Frost was another useless casting or bad casting. The other major roles were well casted and why the film was pretty good.
