I know Sarah says it, and it isn't a message, but this scene reveals what Sarah believes. What Sarah has believed up till T2. The dream with Reese was her dream, it was her unconsciously telling herself what she believed, as all dreams normally do. Not saying that that was what Cameron meant with it, but some things you just have to suspend disbelief for, you know? It's a movie afterall and continuity errors are bound to happen.

I always looked at the inconsistencies as things changing as time goes because of things they are altering in the present day. I know that it is more about Hollywood and money to cash in on sequels, but for the sake of justifying it in my head, dates, messages and history kept evolving from movie to movie because of the time travel. It's my fun way of dealing with poor writing. Although in the short lived series, they did touch on alternate paths a little which was interesting.

no, that's what James Cameron said back then. we talked about what Cameron said earlier and later. you know, today he can say that terminators were just a dream of a drunk guy whose pants were stolen in the beginning of the first movie.

The dream with Reese was her dream, it was her unconsciously telling herself what she believed, as all dreams normally do.
