VERY NICE!

It's kinda cool to have a figure from something that's not out yet (relatively speaking). Plus, this figure is a desert island must-have for me.
One of my all-time favorites...

KNIGHTMARE RETURNS.jpg

.... and I am absolutely digging the recent photos in here. Great stuff!

I almost have to bet this gets a re-release for Snyder’s Justice League. The figure was a fan favorite and is long sold out and Batman appears in this gear again. Makes sense.

I'm of course with you on that one. :lol

I'd almost like to think Hot Toys have set a precedent with the Dark Knight version and Bat-Pod and possibly also a Joker re-release.

Then of course Batman Forever Batman and Robin. They're in full Batman mode !!!

Next figure release we'll need to post a pic of Knightmare Batman and see the interest. Especially post Snyder Cut trailer and/or in March when the film releases. I'm sure Hot Toys will wait for the final reception of the film.

People slept on this figure now want it but don’t want to pay high prices. So a rerelease is always wanted instead lol. Not how collecting works. If could very well happen but if you miss out on a collectible or limited produced product, it will generally cost more if you want it later down the road. We’ve all jumped in on this hobby at different times and with that comes releases that we missed out on. If you want it really bad you pay for it. You don’t want a figure that bad if you aren’t willing to pay $200-$300 over cost. It sucks but that’s the name of the game. Took me 12 years to finally get my grail piece and I didn’t pay retail nor should I have but I knew this and too many don’t.

I have a neutral opinion when it comes to reissues. I’m not opposed to or in favor of them really. I do think that if a second run of a figure is done then HT should change it up a bit somehow so that it’s not a straight rerelease of the exact same figure.

Omit something from a second run figure that was included with the first run so that the first run is still special and include something different with a reissue so that it’s still appealing to those that have the first run figure. I imagine some would still be upset if that were done but there is no pleasing everybody. :D

Well this is kinda different because a rerelease makes sense since the Snyder cut is going to focus more on the Knightmare world and that version of Batman is going to have more screen time. Kinda like how a few troopers have been rereleased because they also appeared in The Mandalorian.

I tend to be in agreement with Coco on reissues. But there are some monkey wrenches that can get thrown into the discussion:

1. What if it is a "new and improved" version? For example, Hot Toys' recent "Two-Face"?

Asmus has done this with their "Lord of the Rings" figure line by releasing what they call "Slim" versions. Exactly as Coco suggested, a new run of the figures but missing an accessory or two, in order to keep the original "exclusive", if you will.

2. What if technology and/or modern materials have improved since the initial release and now a better figure can be manufactured?

I missed the original Two-Face and did not believe its inclusion in my collection was worth the high after-market prices. I will admit that I was doubly thrilled to see Hot Toys not only revisit but revise the figure. I immediately jumped on the pre-order.

3. Should we consider the "time-frame" of the original release? What if it has been over 10 or 15 years since the original figure(s) release?

1/6 figures are definitely different than limited edition statues, for example. With those, I definitely frown upon any form of reissue. Unfortunately, I've seen those happen as well.

"Hot Toys is excited to officially introduce the 1/6th scale Knightmare Batman collectible figure as a Toy Fair Exclusive item."

I can wholeheartedly say I?m 100% for upgraded and revised figures like the new Two Face. I would be more than happy to see HT revise more than a couple figures even though I may own the originals.

That used to mean something but with reissues and reprinting there's no point in being a collector anymore :(

True. Buy now. Enjoy until better version comes out. Sell previous at a loss. But new one. Rinse and repeat. Actually going more statues now since while the same character may be depicted the same poses and features are not. I collect for the art of it and the rarity. If I wanted toys and a never ending run I’d stick with Hasbro. HT unfortunately is going Hasbro little by little.

Smart, statues are a lot harder to find when they sell out. But even then DC is releasing mini versions and second and third editions with minor changes. Prime 1 is the ultimate for statues but that's a slippery slope I don't want to go down lol

What are the odds they change the coat on this if it is reissued? I can't imagine they think the first iteration was the best they could do.

That's the beauty of a re-release. They usually try to address known issues with the first figure.

So IF it happens, they would certainly look at something like that. Especially considering secondary market actually made and sold a better coat. That indicates a real need for a change/improvement.

Hope you're right.

And if other accessories are being looked at to differentiate the set wouldn't mind a Wayne Sculpt.

Yeah a headsculpt would be sweet, but I wouldn't hold out on them going that far. But anythings possible I guess.

I'd just be happy with a re-release like the others. DK Batman, Batpod, 2 Face I believe etc. All essentially 1:1

However faceplates etc could be redone and painted better due to their ever improving techniques.

Yeah I expect the faceplates will definitely have a better paint app and five o' clock shadow. Even the JL ones are better then the bvs ones and that wasn't that long between those releases.
