Hot Toys or NECA?

Sheesh!? ..both company's give you the right amount of quality for there price ..i think just more people on here are hot toys fans ..as this is a sideshow collectibles site ..collectibles as in high end figures,statue,props etc ..Neca imo are more like nicely done toys that can take a bit of abuse.

Hi, I'm new to collecting these types of figures(mostly of my collection is statues), so which is the better company to collect? Money isn't really a problem and I want to get the best quality for my collection. Hot Toys and Neca are the main company's I'm interested in because of their Terminator, Alien and Predator lines. Who has the better reputation for quality and value retention? Thanks in advance.

Given this post and the things Sandman is looking for - quality and value retention - I'd argue that the result of this poll would have to be the same on any forum if people were being objective.

Personally I didn't vote at all, as I like NECA too much to have added to its inevitable defeat here And I do have my own reasons for sometimes finding more satisfaction in a NECA figure than a Hot Toys figure. These simply didn't seem necessarily important given the original post.

While they can be quite irrational on the Spawn boards, I doubt they'd ever pay $600 for a NECA or McFarlane Predator.

Well, that's awfully high and mighty of you... especially considering you're new and want helpful advice from avid collectors of both brands. News flash, bud. NECA is practically aimed at teens and younger collectors because of their figures' affordability and quality for the price. I collect both NECA and HT, currently leaning more towards HT. If you want help from both sides, you'd better start listening, or prepare your mere six-post account from at least getting an infraction. But I'd better leave you to your thread and get back to playing with my Legos and Barbie dolls, right? Whatwith my opinion not counting for anything. God forbid someone under 18 should know what they're talking about when it comes to action figures.

At best, you've five useful pages out of eight. And I don't see what more there needs to be said; the poll was a massive landslide from the very beginning. This isn't the time to get all "junior-moderator" on us for trying to help in an inevitable trainwreck of a thread.

Yeah, and i can't see the point why he wants more people to respond. Sandman, just buy what you feel is right for you. In fact, if you want, buy a couple of figures from each company. With NECA's price, buying it along with an HT figure won't cost so much. If you opt to go for NECA after comparing, then sell your HT figure. HT figs have high resale value. If you decide on HT, then at least you have an excellent figure to display in your cubicle, or office. NECA figures are good to hold on to, though you can also sell it.

I just started in 1/6th collecting and i say ht are doing their thing and they are on fire right now, ht all the way.

yeah id have to say Hot Toys. I mean if money isnt an option then spend the money and get some Hot Toys figures. While NECA's figures are cool especially for the price and being able to just walk into your local TRU and pick them up there not bad. If you want an awesomely detailed 1:6 figure though NECA cant really compete there.
I'll be honest I have a few NECA figures because some of the characters I like and well like I said there easy to get (impulse buys), but I also have my Hot Toys figures displayed proudly over my NECA ones.

I am confused. Sandman believes that people under 18 have stupid opinions even if the collect both? So that means my opinion is garbage and trolling as well?

I believe that NECA is great for their price. Can't really beat the accuracy on the $15 Predators. They look awesome as well. If you want a higher end Predator that may be taller too then Hot Toys is he only way to go. Well Sideshow has dioramas and statues but those aren't articulated like Hot Toys. Accuracy isn't 100% Hot Toys' priority, I assume that from seeing their previous figures, but the same can be said about NECA too.

My final opinion, NECA is great for a 7" figure. It would be excellent if it was 16" and painted like the two-ups. Hot Toys is the king of larger figures and the only way to go if you want 1/6 and articulation. Sculpts aren't amazing but they are still good.
