My guess is that if Hot Toys hasn't released the older characters by now, they probably never will. Anyone who wants a POTC1 Barbossa figure is going to have to get in line at Hot Toys HQ and shout in unison "We want Barbossa now!", LOL. :lol

I'd also like to see them re-release some of the older figures (I.E., Davy Jones), but I'm 99% sure it won't happen given the current popularity of the franchise.

Has HT ever in their history re visited a license later after the initial run.....

If so I want a Sleepy Hollow headless horseman before Barbossa.

HT does it all the time if they see money in it. Aliens and Predators and Terminator were some of their first licenses and there were periods of nothing new then suddenly new products came. Pirates were long done by the time DX Jack came out and have been dead again until this figure.

Sadly, I feel HT thinks star power is necessary for Pirates for the most part. They gave us Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Penelope Cruz. I think Davy Jones made the cut because of his design and Barbossa gets overlooked cuz Geoffrey Rush doesn't have the same star power.

I think same goes for Sleepy Hollow, I feel they deem the figure not interesting enough alone to sell, which sucks, they wouldn't even have to worry about likeness if they skip Walken's head.

So sick of waiting....

For sure. If only HT would just go for it with the older POTC movie licenses. I'm looking forward to this new Jack in the meantime. Hopefully the new Barbossa comes along as well.

I would've gone for COTBP or DMC versions - with a Barbossa and a Norrington (my favorite character).

They basically made figures from the movies I liked the least - AWE and OST.

Now I'm very "meh" on the franchise and don't care at all for Depp.

I will not be utilizing the third belt with this figure, two works ok for me and almost seems fitting, but of the various updates to Jack's costume over the series, the third belt is the first to feel unnatural and like overkill to me.

Well... Maybe he was actually playing Young Sparrow but I still have the impression the face is Johnny with CG.The actor could still be a body double.
The specifically mentioned the make up department - I'm thinking it might be the sort of thing they did in Looper with Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon Levitt? They could have used any younger, skinny guy if they just planned to overlay a CG face.

Looking at the footage more, if you stop to really look, the face isn't perfect like a CGI effect, my guess is with all the other CGI work, it probably wasn't in the budget to add a CGI de-aging effect. It's one thing with Marvel or Star Wars to add such a surely costly effect, but Pirates isn't a billion dollar franchise.

Maybe you're not being serious, but the franchise itself has grossed 3.7 billion dollars. Last I heard the budget for this film was more than Avatar, which is insane.
