That was definitely not the only one. There were a few garbage auctions this morning for the SS version that said it was HT after the blogger pics posted. Not like the 'real' auctions were much better. Timcent and some other HK scalpers had this at over $300.

Comparison to Sideshows
Thanks for posting these. Well that allays my concerns. I was happy with the Sideshow for the most part and this adds the nice dome and has a fraction of height on the SS too.
Once again HT teaches!
But I'm not certain I like their holo projector lens -- unless that's some super lens distortion. And the blue paint on the dome seems cheap, maybe cheaper than SS.
HT can't pass for ANH R2. Strangely, the SS dome is better!

The sideshow actually compares pretty favorably. Dammit I have to think about this now, if that HT metallic dome wasn't so pretty it would be a pass.
The HT body is way better... but I have to give SS the dome (at least for ANH.. and yes, I realize the HT is TFA)...

As you would expect a lot of the small details are sharper on the HT. Stuff like hoses, vents, and buttons. I'll probably keep my HT order but I'll also keep the sideshow. Can't have too many R2s
I'm still considering updating my SS to this TFA R2... but I'm less certain now. Maybe I should wait for the official OT R2.
The SS R2 and 3PO (despite the thumbs) hold up quite well when standing next to the HT Star Wars line-up of heroes. I can wait.

If I was smart I would do the same. Have to wonder about how long the wait will be. And how many R2s they make? ANH, Empire, and Jedi? Flying prequel R2 to go with Anakin?
I think they will just do an ROTJ R2 -- covering all the films like SS did, since it really just gets down to a few different arms. But it may be a long wait.
They'll do a TLJ R2 as well. Likely why they got this R2 out now. Get it delivered before the new TLJ R2 is previewed in Sept-Oct.

Yeah I've always thought that looked a bit off. Everybody is so in love with the diecast dome, but it was never really that shiny and reflective in the movies. Even after he had all been shined up at the end:

Thanks for the pics. HT's body is looking pretty great there, but I'm bummed the HT R2 wasn't a little bigger overall. The SSC for me is quite noticeably too small (height as well as girth,) and the HT seems only very slightly bigger.

I saw the projector lens is accurate to TFA. HT made him pretty damn accurate looking at close ups. It's the small things that make him look different to ANH. I prefer ANH look but who knows how long it will take?

I was close to POing this one, but I'd be throwing down over two hundred bucks for a seamless shiny dome and not a whole lot else.
The scale difference between this and the SS is neglible, which is kind of frustrating after all that's been said about it.
Oh well. Saved myself some money I guess.

The metal dome is nice, but not worth selling SS's and getting the HT one since they are pretty much the same size.
