Well, from what I can see from your pic, yours is way better looking than the HT version. I'm not sure how much trouble it was to make, but i would be down for one if you made more of them.

yeah the yellow tint never sat well with me either. Of course the lack of accessories didn't help its cause either.

My question is, should I try and hunt down the MMS511 or preorder the upcoming R2-D2? Apart from the difference in accessories, I believe the only other difference is the weathering right?

I guess could always just get both…

We won't know the full extent of or if any changes are made for 651 till it comes out. But it's probably not going to be that different.

If you want the slightly cleaner appearance and the OT specific accessories, get 511. If you don't need those and like the PT version then you could save a lot of money by just getting 651.

Or you could get both if you really want to. Sideshow one is not bad for the price either. You can never have enough R2s.

From the photos I've seen, MMS651 body color is looking yellow cream like the TFA version (MMS408).

You can see it better here against the white clone trooper:

I personally like the whiter color of MMS511. Here is MMS511 vs MMS408:

If you don't mind the yellow cream colored body and the heavy weathering then wait for the new MMS651.
I feel the MMS511 is already decenlty weathered and can look better next to a clean C3PO when HT finally makes one.

I noticed the placecards color, yeah that photo looks a little warm but the photo with the white clone trooper also has a cream placecard color. I don't know maybe the placecards are offwhite as well.
There is also Justin's video which shows the new R2 and it looks cream colored there as well.
I don't mind the heavy weathering I just prefer the white body over the yellow cream body.

They’re very different temperatures. Even if the cards are off white, the warmth of the first photo is enough to make the card look beige.

Meaning it would be enough to make R2 look beige/cream colored. R2 looks fairly white in the second photo.

Maybe there’s a misunderstanding but the newer R2 (the OT Deluxe) in Justin’s video is white. In person, it’s white. The TFA is on the right and cream colored.

I'd have to agree, the color in the first pic is biased toward warm white. Second pic the whites look more balanced.

I plan on picking up this AOTC version of R2, I do hope it's not overly yellowed, but at least HT promo pics look fairly balanced. I really like the weathering on this version.

Hey gang, I have a question, my MMS511 R2 doesn't light up or seem to sync up anymore. The remote lights up and nothing happens, the only lights I see are the three protruding projectors that are on the dome. They only turn for a second and that's it. Has anyone else had a similar problem or have a solution? Yes I have tried fresh batteries.
