Thanks for posting those comparison pics. I got my R1 Stormtrooper yesterday and was going to do the same but you got it covered. Instead, I'll just post my thoughts on comparisons between the R1 and the ANH.

I have to admit, in pics I had issues with the R1, but the figure itself is very nice.

The helmet is, imo a little too wide and a little too flat, but the ANH also has issues. Neither are perfect and this one is close enough it makes a nice variant amongst my stormy collection.

The chest armour is much nicer in hand. It pretty much looks like a tank top in comparison but in hand that isn't so pronounced. The 'breasts' are also flatter and next to the ANH actually look more natural.

I do think his belt and 'pants' ride a little too low for my liking.

Articulation is markedly reduced on the R1. Both arms and legs are more restricted in posability due to the armour design. I find it funny there are so many comments that the R1 armour design is more utilitarian than ANH, but the figure itself is much more restrictive. Arms for example are incapable of hanging loose in a natural "person in a suit" stance. That said, posing R1 and ANH next to each other it is easier to believe the R1 is a person in a suit. It's funny, if I didn't know better, I'd look at the R1 design and think that was the one from the 70's.

Overall, I still think ANH is the best and if I could only have one, that would be the one, but am happy to have this guy in amongst the ranks. Ok, maybe the Sandie is the best but if you're talking clean...

PS: one upgrade I love is the new thermal detonator. Those things falling off OT troopers has been a bane.

From far away I think this helmet might look better than the ANH helmet but I think it looks a bit too flat especially from above and I'm not crazy about how round the RO eyes are, both of which you notice when you get closer.

The leg armor can be made to not look too stumpy and the articulation is more restricted but it can still achieve most poses you'd want with just a bit more effort.

Like momaw I think I'd pick the ANH over these but they fit in just fine and the chest armor discrepancy doesn't seem that big a deal. It maybe makes the ANH armor look a touch too big, like as if there's a more ideal size slightly smaller than the ANH one. Sometimes they look like armored ****s to me. The thighs look a little thick on the ANH figures too. Anyhow, these are fine versions, though I think compared to the actual movie RO stormtroopers they maybe come across as looking a little slighter than they did in the film.

Does anyone have both the clean and dirty versions of the Rogue One Stormtrooper? I have the dirty version two-pack and a clean trooper on order, but I'm trying to determine if they'll look bad together and if I need another shiny?

I like all of the different variations of the original TK we've been getting, I am making variations to my troops so there are tall and short troopers, high neck and low necks, short pegs and tall pegs. In the picture below the right trooper looks to have a chest armor more like a RO version to me. The new RO troopers are more white and I like that as well as the other differences highlighted in the recent posts above. It gives more of the look that they are not clones, which for me is a great thing.

Can anyone post a pic of a clean R1 stormie with a HT farm boy Luke head on please? Just curious to see if it looks any good.

I got my two pack yesterday, and I really like them. While I agree with some of the criticism about the helmet (they do look a little flat and a little wide), it started to bother me less the more I fiddled with the figures.
The articulation is definitely reduced in the waist, like others have been saying, but I don't find the articulation to be reduced in the arms. Not to specifically disagree with Momaw (he's just the last person I saw to comment about the arms). I found that if you turn the elbows outward a little more, and turn the hands inward (thumbs more towards the body), the arms hang much more naturally on the RO ST than on the ANH.
I also appreciate all the new details present on the undersuit, which is really nice, and on the hand sculpts, like the little ridges on the thumbs.
Overall, I'm really pleased with the set, and the back pack for the orange pauldron trooper is really great.
My only complaints are that both mine came with a fingerprint on the lenses, and the cleaner of the two has Troopers what looks like some glue residue in the sides of the "ear parts", for lack of a better description.

They look fine to me, I was going to get another clean one but cancelled on it.
The weathering on the 2 pack one is so subtle you can only notice it up close

That's exactly what I wanted to hear! Thanks!!

Head doesn't fit on the peg and I didn't want to risk damaging the neck piece as I'm selling this one (I've had them split on some stormtroopers). I think on a short body it would look good.

Got mine yesterday and unboxed it today. It's pretty good, but I wish the articulation was better. I could pull off some cool poses with my old Medicom one just because I could get the arms and wrists bent more. This one is only good for museum/non-action poses.

Hey everyone, long time lurker here. While I've purchased the occasional Hot Toys here and there I've decided to nose dive into HT Star Wars collecting. I am sure I will end up divorced when it's all said and done but I am having a blast right now. Was only going to pick up a couple from the Rogue One line but that has quickly changed to nearly half the line. Just received the RO Stormtrooper and Deathtrooper Specialist. Just wanted share a quick cell pic of the Stormtrooper:
