Yes it did. They enacted a pretty poorly performed dance routine ending in their deaths.

Way worse than ROTS when Yoda tossed Palp's 2 Royal Guards like rag dolls. They lost their dignity, but at least they still looked cool.

What were they exactly capable of? They didn't do a very good job of protecting Snoke.

All joking aside, the Royal Guards in ROTJ were a stark contrast to the white infantry stormtroopers we'd seen up until that point. When they're revealed as part of the Emperor's entourage you know they're important and then when you see them again in the throne room it's re-emphasized. Lucas didn't have to show them fighting for the audience to understand they were elite troops. Whether that was intentially done or not, the point is understood and showing them fighting wasn't critical to the story.

I enjoyed the Snoke throne room scene in TLJ, but I think the movies are moving away from the "focus" (the story) in favor of the "flash" (the fights & effects). Lucas was guilty of this in the PT, as well. The thing that I like about the OT was that you could use your imagination to fill in the gaps and didn't need it acted out on the screen. A lot of that was due to limitations in technology and special effects, but it made a cohesive story important (granted the OT isn't the best story by any means considering you've got a brother and sister kissing), but it made subtle things like the visual cue differentiating the ERG from Stormtroopers important.

Sometimes it's better not to see somethign on the screen and enjoy it for what it is. Solo made me realize I don't need an origin story for every character and I don't want one for mysterious characters like Yoda and Boba Fett.

Anyways, staying on topic has anyone got their notice from BBTS yet?

Just got a bunch of parts from TA - I'm going to cast the helmet I got (because the shape looks pretty easy to cast and is a simple paint job, though matching the red exactly will be impossible) to make a second one. Around $200 for two complete Royal guards.

One will be a complete HT fig (just with non-HT body and no stand,) the second will have a cast helmet and weapon.

I`m hoping to get this guy soon he will go well with this other awesome version I got some time last year. and here is another shot of him with the Hasbro version (place holder) until the hot toys version comes in.

Couple of stain free guards arrived today from HK. They look great, but they really ought to be much cheaper being so simple and light on accessories.

It funny how you can get a high res printout of the two guards paste it to the back of your Detolf and the presence would be the same. Not to mention a great way to space save!!!
