Hot Toys Sandtrooper MMS 295

Oh ****, great idea, ZE. I may hold onto my Short trooper for when the next Sandtrooper comes out. I'd contemplated selling that one off since getting Luke.

The MMS304 body is a little different from short trooper. I ended up swapping neck posts and pegs --although I believe the new peg is a short trooper peg -- I wanted more movement and angles from the helmet, and the MMS304 post and peg were too short.

Hard to see here with an iPhone snap and the lens distortion, but you might make out a difference. Just did a rudimentary pass of weathering on the pauldron but can't do a proper job yet.

I like the short sandie. There was an alley captain in Mos Eisley who was shorter; the two "Look Sir, droids!" in the desert were short...I know more about these guys than is healthy or sane.

I won't be killing myself building and weathering canonical troops any time in the near future, but for now a mix of body types breaks up the monotony and adds realism.

Thanks! Might have time this weekend to do some half-decent photos and weather that pauldron properly. All I did was cut down on the shine and give one coat of dust, already an improvement, but needs real work. I can't decide if I'll keep the slightly larger Shadow Trooper ammo pouch on the shoulder, or switch it for one the Sandtrooper belt pouches up top -- already weathered but I'd need to rig strapping, so no rest for the lazy either way. Still need to get back to Luke's helmet at some point.

I want this guy but I feel if I get him I'll want to get the droids and Ben as well. The dillema.

I'm sure there will be more regular Stormtroopers. I picked up a Sandtrooper and Ben because I'm not sure if they'll make more of them. I'm sure there will be Hot Toys versions of the Droids as well.

The elastic on the back on the shoulder pouch did not even last 5 seconds after I unboxed the trooper! Any idea what I could do to fix it ? Not sure I can sew it back through the back :-(

My Sandtrooper is here tomorrow so I'm expecting the worst when it comes to shoulder-pouch strap; has anyone tried one of the UV cured glues to repair something like this, I think it'd work way better then superglue?

I wouldn't be so worried. I had 0 issues with any of the straps. Tweezers are helpful for equipping him though.

I used a superglue gel, no issues. Use a TINY amount and you get better results.

I'm on a super tight budget. i'm getting the Delorean with my tax return but I have extra funds for one more character. Should I go for Sandy here or for Rey?
I have Chewie and Luke from ANH and Kylo and a Trooper from FA. So in your opinion what would make a better third?

Tough call....I'd say Sandy because who knows if he'll get remade anytime soon but Rey will get more iterations. You gotta have both though so I'd go with Sandy for now since you have time till Rey comes out anyway. And you need an OT bad guy. But as always go with your gut desire of which you really want more.
