Personally I wouldn't buy multiples of this guy because aside from the pauldron, the weathering will be the same across multiples and that would bug me. Apparently there are also helmet/armour details amongst the Sandies that differed and I'd expect HT to recreate, given their attention to detail thus far.

SSC attempted different weathering; they were successful on their last one. If SSC can do it, HT should have ZERO problem doing the same

:lecture Exactly.

I think the Sandies had different backpacks as well. Not to mention the crooked headband would be corrected for the other Sandies.

^^ - Yep! May as well get all those details for your combined investment of $440 or $660 for 2 or 3 troopers. The money is the same but some want less for it, I guess. *scratches head*

There are at least five different pack variants. Three of which are more commonly seen/used. Only the one had the raised brow trim. Weathering is different across the board, with some being quite distinct; weapons and pouch configurations were also different.

And of course, everything changed from scene to scene. There was one solid white pauldron and one ridged white pauldron in addition to orange and black.

I'd be happy with three backpacks, three pauldrons, plus the different weapon and pouch options with a "regular"-browed stunt helmet for other sandtroopers.

Good points about the weathering being different. It hasn't even crossed my mind that something so obvious could be changed. I didn't realize there were different backpacks.

Yes, I agree about the weathering. I dont want them to look the same. Should be a simple change as well. If Hot Toys makes the other Sandies, which I'm sure they will, all these changes are very ez. Hopefully they'll get on it soon!

The helmet looks great in the photos quoted below. The photos on the Sideshow site don't look as well-proportioned; I'm guessing it's just the way the promo photos were shot. I didn't see any differences between the HT prototype stormtrooper sculpt and production, so hope what we see at Secret Base is what we're getting.

Thanks for watching

just dropped in SB today to see those sandtroopers prototype,

So are we expecting all of the SS pieces to start trading lower with this release?

One would think so. Plus, I wonder if HT will stop here or make more. A deluxe 2-pack? I am not going to get rid of my SSC Sandies, but I imagine some will sell and get HTs.

Yep, time to sell is before HT announces. If I was unhappy at all with my Snowtroopers, I'd sell 'em now. I plan on just augmenting them with an inevitable HT Snowtrooper or two, as opposed to replacing, though.

So I'm wanting to get this awesome Sand Trooper, but am new to the collecting scene. Have a few questions;
1). I want to maximise any saving I can get. Any tips on how best to do this ?
2). Are the monthly codes I have seen only for pre-order or non-preorder figures ?
3). Do Sideshow do Black Friday ?
4). Does anyone think that these will run long past pre-order ?

I live in Europe, but currently the Sideshow pricing looks to be pretty competitive even with the import duty and postage.

Lot's of questions, but hopefully you guys can help me out.

Yes...cause you can put all their parts on a HT Stormtrooper....they look nice!
