Yeah, thanks for the pics and tips guys. I used the pouch too which was a pain to put on the belt. But without it the backpack does sit too low and angled against the back armour. In many ways I think that's because HT didnt use a magnet to support the backpack.

I totally prefer the Sideshow method on the Deluxe figure that had the magnet. I always wondered where my spare little pouch on the Sideshow figure was meant to do, and now I know lol. But I never needed it on the Sideshow figure.

I'm editing my vid review now comparing the new HT version with the Sideshow Deluxe. There are pros and cons both ways!

That pouch wasn't present on a lot of screen-used costumes; and a look at ANH confirms that the weird angles and low-hanging packs is in fact, screen accurate to the original costumes. ;)

Fantastic. I always wanted that environment but couldn't make the size or cost work. Looks brilliant.

Thanks Momaw! I've always wanted the Nook and when it first came it out was pretty expensive, IMO. Luckily, I got this during a SS sale for under $150 with free shipping and double rewards points. So glad I didn't sleep on that deal. It is a fun dio, just wish it was a little bigger, lol.

Another fantastic release by Hot Toys, almost ruined by an absolute pain-in-the-arse backpack that took me forever to bloody put on! But once set up, it's a beautiful figure and the best Sandtrooper made to date!

But the previous Sideshow Deluxe Sandtrooper still holds up extremely well to the HT figure, and actually beats it out with at least the use of a magnet to support the back pack!

Video review uploading now, so stay tuned :)

Got mine last night and I couldn't love it more. Loads of accessories and amazing paint apps. Backpack wasn't too bad. Used tweezers and loads of patience which made life easier. Only issue I have is you gotta have 2 so I ordered a second from AE. :lol

My advice to all of you for the backpack: either use a bit of double sided tape to keep it still or velcro with glue tape. I used double sided tape on the SSC Sandies and works perfectly. for my HT Sandie will add velcro

So anyway, if I get a Sandtrooper, I'll most likely also get SS Biker Scout to go with him, and maybe even a snow trooper down the road. That would make a great display, but just not sure I really have the space for another grouping. Personally, I don't like it when my figures feel overcrowded; individual figures start to get lost in the crowd that way. IMO. I thought though I might pick him up and mess around with it and see if it worked with my set up and if not I could sell him down the road. So being on the fence like this the thought of free shipping was tempting me to go for it, but I think I'll just stay up here on the fence a while longer before I decide one way or another.

It really is a beautiful figure though and I am enjoying everyone's pictures.

Sandtrooper would probably look nice with the Scout, but the SS Snowtrooper (while I prefer it to the Scout) has a helmet that seems smaller scale-wise to both the Sandtrooper and Scout. The Sandtrooper helmet looks even bigger, slightly, than the Stormtrooper helmet.

Here's my look at the new Hot Toys Sandtrooper. Another fantastic release, with improvements over the previous Sideshow Deluxe trooper. My review does include a detailed comparison between the two, and the old one still holds its own extremely well, with one feature that is vastly better than the HT.

Overall, two great figures that complement each other for sure! Hope you can check out the review :)

I'm sure this review is very helpful and informative for a lot of people. That said, there is so much information available on the net to inform you of the many differences between the packs and head sculpt.

Also, the armor is not the same, at all. HT armor is vastly superior in likeness to sandtroopers in the movie than the SS. You can look at the top of the armor on the legs as an example. The HT armor is almost an exact likeness to the Marmit armor. The HT Sandtrooper almost makes a mockery of the SS Sandtrooper. So to anyone who is looking to make a serious choice between one and the other your review is counter productive to that end.

You probably would have been better off not comparing the two...and you definitely should not be telling people not to swap out their SS version for the HT version just yet. This is the best and most accurate Sandtrooper to hit the market in 1/6th scale ever. To any true collector of film accurate figures you offered really bad advice there.

The circle sticker on the pauldron is movie accurate. On that particular trooper (and this figure is specific to one Sandtrooper in the movie) he had a sticker residue on his pauldron. So that was purposeful.

Thanks for the review though.

So some of your review is off and incorrect, but to many I'm sure, that's just picking a nit.

I think I state how awesome the new HT version is numerous times in my review lol. Also in my summary at the end of the review, I say:

- "It's worth getting if you're a fan of the original trilogy"

- "It's probably best to get it if you don't have the Sideshow version"

- "Definitely don't get rid of your Sideshow ones if you have them"

I did a comparison to point out the differences in the figures, not to compare which is screen accurate to the most minute details. I'm not that pedantic a collector, and my reviews are not to that level of detail lol. To me, if it looks how I remember in the movie without any glaring issues, then I'm mostly happy.

I heard complaints from some collectors regarding the Biker Scout for example, but I think it's one of their best trooper figures for sure! So as always, liking a figure, new or old, is subjective.

I think telling people to rush out and replace all their Sideshow figures with the Hot Toys figure is overstating how good this new Sandtrooper is! It's great for sure, but most collectors I think are happy to keep their existing figures and get the new one to add to it rather than replace.

Looking forward to getting this. Watching the review I don't really care for the weathering on the Sideshow Deluxe Sandtrooper. Just seems overdone and doesn't look great to me.

Yeah, that's why I said it looks like he's been on Tatooine for a lot longer and seems to have been walking through Bantha **** lol!! :)

Loving all the original trilogy troopers!
