Well, that was unexpected !

A couple of unboxings on youtube, and the paint apps aren't looking too hot with defects. Also one guy had his covered in dusty grime

According to the official Making Of book, the 89 Batmobile is 19ft 6 inches which is 234 inches total. Assuming 19 feet 6 inches is correct, 234 divided by 6 would be 39 inches in length for a true 1/6 scale...which is the length of the Hot Toys version, whereas the Jazz is 43.

I think the Jazz is slightly oversized but has the more accurate shape and proportions. The issue with the Hot Toys version is the rear of the vehicle is too large which makes the front of it look too short. However, it has the correct footprint for a true 1/6 scale.

All that said, I would rather have it be a bit too large but with accurate shapes and proportions.

For most people I think the Hot Toys version gets the job done, and the proportions issue isn't really noticeable if you display it at a slight angle, but credit where credit is due: The Jazz version nailed the shape and proportions of the 89. And many vehicles + figures aren't true 1/6 scale anyhow.
234 inches sounds about right. From my own research, the hero cars are about that. I contacted Gotham Cruisers that sells the full-sized body shells for enthusiasts to make their own drivable batmobiles, and they quoted me 235 inches on a wheelbase of around 141 inches. I understand that most of the shells on the market now were cast from the Jay Ohrberg replicas, so they are all 8 inches narrower than the original hero cars. One of the hero cars resides at the Petersen Automotive Museum. It is described as being almost 20 feet long.

I think the thing that gets everyone confused about vehicle dimensions is that the hero car dimensions are sometimes not the 'official' dimensions. According to Warner Bros promo material, not only is the 89 batmobile 260.7 inches long, it is bulletproof, has a jet turbine engine, can deploy a shield, and transform into the bat missile. Obviously the hero cars don't have any of those features. So I guess, as collectors, it all depends on what you are after - the dimensions of the 'actual' car or the car in the movie.

Didn't watch the whole thing, but he has a point about the voting business. At the end of the day it's inaccurate sampling and gimmick-y.

I was tempted by the car, but glad I didn't opt in. It really seems like a roll of the dice as to what you get in terms of production quality; when it's not compromised it really looks gorgeous, but I'm not a gambling man.

I appreciate the challenges a tiny company like JazzInc. faces; just a shame that these growing pains are impacting this product.

Does it make me worry about the Catwoman figure? Yes. But at least that's not *as* expensive and the size of a small fridge shipping-wise.

I can barely notice the mold dents in that video. In a way, that's good I guess. The texture and uneven paint is disappointing. I think what will really bother me the most is that and the warped gun covers that won't sit flush against the body. How do you even fix that if you end up with that issue?

What was the reason again why the bat symbols are separate and were not molded to the wheels? Is there supposed to be a feature where they come off in the movie? I can't recall.

I agree there are some basic quality control issues slipping through that should not exist with these, particularly when it comes to the weird marks or fingerprints in the paint job.... but a lot of his other issues seem very minor to me, like the added felt, the dust that got in the packaging, and having to attach the bat symbols ourselves (if you don't like 3M tape there's this little thing called super glue...).

As for the gun covers, I expect a quick blast with a heat gun should get those sitting flat again.

Yes I understand these are licensed collectibles, but I also realize that Jazzinc doesn't have near the resources or production budget to make things as perfect as the much bigger companies. And this car was clearly far more challenging to produce than they expected. And no I'm not part of some "Jazzinc cult". Lol

What makes it really problematic is the sheer size of the piece, and difficulties/cost involved with shipping. It's not as if an exchange is particularly easy for either party (assuming it's even possible).

Those seem pretty trivial in the grand scheme.

That's not so trivial. I suppose that's a more easily replaceable part if it comes down to it, so there is that.

For sure. I'm sure everyone wants the guy to win, but to be fair these are real issues.

As much as I hated to do it I cancelled my order last week. I probably could have lived with the injection mold dents, but the paint I'm seeing on some of the cars finally getting in customer hands is just not acceptable at this price point. A high end collectible like this needs a professional paint job and I've yet to see one in any pics or video that doesn't have some serious quality issues (orange peel, smudges, etc.). Such a shame.

I’ve been contemplating canceling as well, in some videos it does look great but with my luck I’ll be getting one with weird paint and bent gum covers. As for the sound and smoke effect, those are things I would probably use once if ever. The lights are cool though. Hopefully some more videos pop up, just to help me make a proper decision

I don’t know. I think some people are willing to give Jazzinc a pass but frankly if any other company, especially Hot Toys had those QC issues you would never hear the end of people complaining.

To me selling a product for as much as this costs and for those issues to be present is a turn off and makes me not very eager to buy Jazzinc products.

I decided not to get Catwoman, partly because of this. JazzInc's research and attention to detail in the modelling is great and you can't deny the passion, but the quality of the end product never matches any of that. And these things are more expensive than everyone else.

Man why put in so much work & research to get everything correct just to let them get shipped out like this

Wow - this is a terrible unboxing.
"The foam was broken": the foam therefore did its job, it's expendable and designed to protect the product and, in the case of a handling bash, it's designed to be sacrificed.
"A zip tie was broken": He's right, I don't believe him.
"It's covered in dirt, well, not dirt, but dust": It's got a very light film of dust on it. Here's the thing though - we don't see the unwrapping, we just see it on the foam insert. He's opening it in a storage facility with a concrete floor - I think we know where most of the dust is coming from (look at the wheels on the trolley). The guy uses *his sweatshirt* to wipe over the model - we're not watching someone take a great deal of care with the model.
The bat symbols on the wheels "3M tape is appalling": I'll agree that it's not perfect, but if you don't want to use 3M you can use a spot of superglue.

And finally the second half, a good 12 minutes of barely coherent angry rambling that was painful to watch. He clearly doesn't get (or like) that Jazzinc interacts with its fanbase to make changes/amendments on pre-order, prototypes - something I think is actually very refreshing.
He dismisses other people's positive reviews of their cars as 'cult of Jazzinc BS' but we're supposed to take his negative one at face value - nah.
This was a man with an agenda - he was looking to be negative, looking to be angry and outraged. I'll leave him in the car park with his faux rage - I think he's better off sticking to Hot Toys tbh.

Just to stick to the facts. I have not heard from him about this, but if he would've contacted me, I would've send out new covers or a whole new car (at out expense). Almost 200 have been delivered and no one has complained of dust or the covers not fitting. Don't take my word. Check the groups and forums. Ask around who had dust and bad fitting covers like him. So far we have around 1-2% issues after shipping and we are addressing them. Some of those customers received packages that were handled like a football at the superbowl, so all we can do is fix and issues (for free of course) and file a claim with the shipping company afterwards. All in all it is well within the industry standard, but apparently this is getting blown out of proportion and he was more interested in outrage, clickbait and views than getting this fixed.

There are many positive reviews and pictures of happy customers out there to counter this bad one. And with regard to issues, we do all we can to prevent them (cause who needs this), but it's inevitable if you ship out hundreds of products of this size and weight and complexity that you will have some. It's how you handle them that counts and our customer service reputation speaks for itself.

Thanks, Joost. The guy clearly has an agenda - the video he posted is just an excuse for him to have his 12 minute rant, which was sphincter-clenchingly awful to watch. I cannot wait to get mine (slated sometime in April) and know that if there are issues I can reach out and have them resolved, rather than posting a YouTube clip from a car park.

His videos are getting ever more unhinged. "What's REALLY Behind Jazzinc's Cult Like Mentality?" is one of the latest to hit YouTube. It's a vendetta now, not just against Jazzinc, but those who dare to say they have received a model in good condition - they're branded liars (direct quote).

He's also making claims about the new Catwoman figure - not sure whether that counts as slander?
