This is something that has made me more confident in my prediction. I?m sure they delayed offical announcement of Solo Chewie because they hadn?t got him quite right (the one in pics definitely looked better then TFA Chewie and marketing him as a Snowgear variant helps with likeness issues hidden below a more mussed up hair style and googles). The lack of Chewie PO contributed to lower preorder numbers on Han so they shelved Chewie as a Solo release and continue to try and get him right for a Bespin or Hoth release.

Obviously this is pure speculation



I think after Solo HT have come to the realisation Han sells better when there is a Chewie fig available. So again no Endor Han without a Chewie for the market. Endor Han and Bespin Han could be released very close together.

You mean the poor sales on Solo Han wasnt due to the film/actor? And that they shelved Chewie because the movie bombed?

Yeah, at the point they actually SHOWED Han Bespin and Chewy in the Leia Bespin preview pics nearly TWO YEARS ago, what kind of time frame are we talking to get Chewy right here?

I mean Leia Bespin must have been in development for at least a year before those 2018 preview pics were taken and you'd assume Han Bespin (and Chewy in this scenario) would also have been developed in the same period given they are at least partly pictured.

So Han Bespin and Chewy have been in development around THREE YEARS and they still aren't ready to even show it... simply because Chewy's face is still bad looking?

HT had no qualms at all about previewing and releasing that god-awful taxidermy kitten known as TFA CHewy. So now suddenly they don't even want to show an ESB Chewy due to the face, and the long-awaited Han Bespin as well - even though there'd be no obligation to PO either?

People are way too convinced that HT is "giving it their all"... kind of like they were about how good the new movies would be.

They have sculptors, they ask for a character, they likely get a couple sculpts from several sculptors, they give them for approval, at worst they get "we like this one but slim the nose" and that's it. These are glorified and expensive dolls, not rocket science.

If you believe that they have been "taking their time" with Han for the last five years, then here's some perspective: that's about half the time they've been prepping Perseverance to go to Mars.

And to think I was about to snooze on that Custom Bespin Han coming soon. Boy oh boy would I be kicking myself now. [emoji38]

And while not perfect, The ANH Chewie is decent. Just repack that with a broken up Threepio?

I have no issues with the first Chewie honestly. Futz him proper and it gets the job done. [emoji111]

Ideally, if they can do him better Im all for it, but to be honest if they re-released him as Empire with a parted bangs and threepio/back pack Id have no issues scooping it up.

In other news, my son just showed me today that they release Chewie with Threepio in Galaxy of Heroes mobile game.

AND Hasbro did a Chewie with Threepio deluxe figure set so, I mean, It HAS to be in the pipeline with HT? Right?..........right?.....[emoji1]

That is why the ford destruction of the figure doesn?t work. Daniels is a great ambassador and we even saw a few c3 figures. In that time, We waited through these theories:
1. Once the sequels are finished they will go back to ot
2. Once the Solo figures ship they will go back to ot
3. Once endgame runs it?s course they will go back to ot
4. Wait for sdcc, big reveal soon
Instead, it has been a spider man bonanza

Maybe hot toys just doesn?t give a crap and makes what is easiest. A ford sculpt and c3po are not easy

How could they do the Death Star gunner and not the Death Star trooper? No sculpt to worry about even though the trooper would have easily outsold the gunner

If bespin Han isn?t teased in the snow speeder luke pics, we may be screwed this year

I really.....REALLY thought it was going to be Empire centric this year. After all the Hasbro stuff we've gotten and still coming. So that was a huge let down. This should have been Empires year.

I think hot toys is just a marvel company now that dabbles in Star Wars and dc. They do release a lot of Star Wars figures, but many are troopers whose parts can be reused and sculpts that can be reused. Once the merchandise for sequels failed, the innovative Star Wars products nosedived. Look at the rogue one releases and then everything after last Jedi. They barely even tried with tros.

TROS got 4 figures, right? Kylo, Rey and some forgettable-looking troopers. TFA had like 20, then TLJ had maybe 6, and now we're down to 4. I think the sales on TFA just showed them that SW is not Marvel.

What would have been great is if they went about things the way they did with ANH. Questionable head sculpts aside, that was pretty incredible to nab every main character/outfit from STAR WARS, even Tarkin eventually!

Then they immediately started bouncing around between Empire and Jedi -- ROTJ Fett, Snowtrooper, Yoda, ROTJ Luke. Started to feel a bit fractured and like the motivation was to compete with what Sideshow had just released in some cases.

I think you answered the question tonton. The failure of tfa figures damaged the line. Sideshow still has the snow troopers for sale. They can?t even give them away. Hence, the attention to marvel figures that don?t seem to sit around forever.
Anyway, hopefully a sw preorder tomorrow!

The marvel hype train might be over was well. All the Infinity War figures are at free shipping status right now.

They should?ve known that after TFA the new characters weren?t going to sell well. Bespin Han and snow speeder Luke will not have that problem, I don?t know what the deal is.

Hot Toys definitely went balls deep on that TFA line. But the poor sales were on them to a degree -- one stormtrooper or two, sure, but they released six different variants of just the main ducktrooper, then also released the flame, tie pilot, and snowtrooper sets. That's a bit nuts for one movie. Surely some of those variants could have waited until maybe anything sold out.

Anyhow, back to Bespin Han for a moment, since this is his thread after all (oh wait!), my hope is that they're indeed now ready to show him after essentially covering every single other realistic Luke and Leia figure. I think the theory that they're looking for one Han sculpt to rule them all may sadly be on point. They have Hoth Han, Bespin Han, pre or post Carbonite Han (maybe slicked back hair), and ROTJ Han (side eyes) to worry about. It better be good, especially since Ford really didn't look that similar in ESB vs ROTJ.
