I'm curious if anybody has any insight on whether or not displaying these with the helmet on long term damages the sculpt? I have been too afraid to do it myself and thus far I have been too lazy to try to customize a knockoff dummy sculpt.

It will in fact leave marks on the sculpt. I left the helmet on mine for a few weeks and it put indentations in the face. I had to buy a new sculpt on eBay as a replacement.

I also tried to pad the Solo sculpt with some packing foam. Didn’t help. Dummy sculpt is the only way to go. HT should’ve just released this as a generic Mudtrooper instead of asking everyone to pay for a painted sculpt that gets destroyed.

Just bought this guy off ebay.
So basically, I can't pose him with the mask/goggles on otherwise it wrecks the sculpt.
If I try to put something under the mask, like foam, it doesn't work.
My only option is to buy another headsculpt to be wrecked in the Han's sculpt place.
I guess I'll also need to alter the sculpt I buy by cutting out space for the magnet/helmet connection.
For anyone who has done this, is there a particular sculpt that you've bought that fits the figures neck fairly well?

I used a sculpt a I had spare, which was Xensation's Stallone Judge Dredd.

One advantage to this one was that it's soft and you can easily keep cutting bits aways until it fits.

I don't know how easy it would be to find, as they probably didn't sell a huge amount.

It became spare when I got two of VTS' version of Dredd , which each came with two sculpts.

Any cheap neck-less head would work but they might be a little harder to carve, that's all.

I did have a quick look on ebay. Couldn't find that particular sculpt. There are plenty of cheap options though.
So I need a neckless one? Thats helpful, thank you.

The Solo body has an integral neck, so a necked sculpt would create more work.

What about an old Action Man head? Found a listing on eBay for a choice of different versions, neck and no neck.
Did you play with them as a kid?
They should be 1/6 scale. Soft plastic, so should be easy to carve out. Only thing is, I can't remember if they were hollow like dolls heads.

You want something that's going to connect well enough to the neck, and generally that's modern sculpts, otherwise the mask hoses might try to push the head up. An Action Man head could be made to work by gluing a rubber neck cup inside it - I think the soft ones ought to be hollow.

(My first 1/6 were secondhand vintage Action Men - the original hard heads before they went to the flocked sculpts).

Whatever you use will be partly visible from sides since the lower cheek/jaw area is exposed.

Arrived today. Got him in a very basic pose for now. Its going to be a complicated carving job once the spare head arrives. The Han sculpt is great though so worth the effort.
I'd like 2 of these ideally, one a generic trooper with full helmet/mask on and the other to show of the Han sculpt.
Might try to find a customiser to make the pouches from the other versions shown in the film.

I was curious as to what the sculpt looked like up under the goggles, mask and hoses. I have had my figure set up that way since I got it back in Aug 2020. If anything, I can see where the mask has made a small indentation on the cheeks. Other than that, I think it looks good. Since he's had a 30 minute breather, back under the mask and helmet you go. haha
