I really hope the rumours are true regarding refining it or doing a mark 85 thing. I’m so on the fence about cancelling mine…

>Spend $400

>Get lazy half arsed figure

>”Eh, good enough”
There’s a difference in saying “good enough” and acknowledging the flaw(s) but they’re not enough to bother ya.

I haven’t even bought one yet, So im not justifying anything. But I’m going to, and I don’t buy things that bother me.

I’m actually glad a lot of people don’t want it now. I put myself on the waitlist, we’ll see how many actually cancel. And hopefully for the people that are bothered by it HT will listen.

Dunno, nothing about this suit and mask is accurate to the movie(s), so I just don’t see how people can be happy with it at the price point we pay for these.

“Yeah it really isn’t good enough.”

“I’ll give them money anyway.”

Me: *visible confusion*

"I think it looks great" (that right there should end your confusion)
"It scratches my itch"
"Can't be bothered by what i find so little"

Never said it was not good enough thats twisting my words.

It's better than enough for me..DOESN'T HAVE to be perfect for me.

Still confused?

I am with Sandcrawler. The figure looks great. It’s a big improvement from v1 and any non licensed version that has come out before. It has flaws, but they all do. And no, not justifying my spend since I would only be out the NRD if I cancelled.

I’m still baffled how you are so content with a high end premium figure that really looks nothing like the character unless you squint or look at it from a distance.

Is it actually that big an improvement over v1 though?

Thighs, shoulders, upper body, turkey neck, and saggy socks were V1 biggest flaws. The proportions are significantly more accurate with V2 and the saggy socks are gone. There was a trade off, we lose the turkey neck and we lose the neckless suit running all the way up to the head, and as a trade off we have neck line. To eliminate the neck line, we would need to eliminate a head sculpt, and then everyone would be all over that. The one flaw that I think should have been easily addressed, is the seam line on the forehead which is a flaw in all the Spideys. If that can’t be eliminated, why not stitch it up on the back of the head?

I was just going to say this.

MMS143 came out, what, 13 years ago?? For a decade plus, there really isn’t much improvement. Having owned two, I would even go as far as saying some aspects of the suit were better even such as the fabric for the blue parts on the legs and arms, no neck seam (though I hated his gobbler turkey neck and undefined chin), etc. This 2.0 is still shaped like a plank board with a weird looking head. Now he has rubbery pants instead.

This release should be more than “good enough” especially for the obscene price they’re asking.

I still think the best Maguire Spider-Man Hot Toys to date is that first black suit MMS165 Spider-Man. Only one I kept.

Except…I feel like those “trade-offs” could’ve been done better or didn’t have to be “trade-offs”, given it has been over a decade and they have had an abundance of figures released to learn from. It just looks…lazy…and…not “good enough”. In fact, their new Andrew blends the neck line into the body pretty good. So what’s the excuse?

Sorry, but this whole conversation with you and the other guy just sounds like a whole lot of…”copium”, whether or not it is because of nostalgia or something.

Bottom line is, I don’t think “eh good enough” is good enough for a premium line of figures unless you have cash to freely burn at your leisure.

Some people enjoy things others do not.
True, for example I think the BvS Batman 2.0 has some big issues that prevented me from preordering (I might still get it eventually) but lots of people are loving that figure and completely forgiving stuff that bothered me, same with HT's The Batman figure. I'm buying this since there might never be a better version but can understand why others won't since I agree with most of the critiques. I think most HT figures have problems that are ridiculous which is why I've almost completely stopped buying, but with this for me it's still better than settling for a third-party or never having it.

Last I checked we bought these 1/6 figures for accuracy, and this aint accurate :dunno. Speaking with my wallet on this one and not buying it. Skipping their Black Suit too because it's just going to be more garbage like this and the Andrew figure.

It looks great to me and it’s “Raimi Spider-Man“ which does check the nostalgia checkbox. If it didn’t look like it, it would miss the nostalgia checkbox. You can’t really separate that aspect can you? Just because it isn’t hitting your mark, you want everyone to see it your way (confirmation bias).

I'm displaying with Andrew and Tom versions all unmasked. I'd still get it if I was displaying with the mask on because it's going to check the boxes I need it to check on a shelf viewing a couple feet away. These zoomed in photos highlighting that the webbing is "off" are in now way noticeable in an actual collection environment. The seam is the most glaring issue and even that is going to be a "squint to see" at a distance. ps. I don't care who does or does not like it as long as I do...

Wow
