I understand the gist of what you're saying, but that's just the idealized image. Which is perfectly fine, but No, in my perfect Empire, Stormtroopers are human recruits who vary in height. They have names, histories, lives, and an unwavering loyalty to the Empire out of fear, necessity, patriotism, discipline, or a combination thereof.

One of my favorite short stories was in the Star Wars Tales comics. It was about the life of the Stormtrooper that gets shot and killed by Leia on the Tantive IV. How he came to be recruited, how he was trained to be a Stormtrooper. Yeah, maybe I'm in the minority, but the so called faceless troopers and pilots of the Empire have always captivated me far more than the names characters ever have.

So I like having Stormtroopers that are different heights. It feels more real to me; gives them character. Plus the short Stormtrooper isn't that short, and everyone has the option not to buy him. I for one will get a pair of two packs and happily display them all together.

On the opposite side from which the pendulum swings, I complete feel for you as well. This all makes sense and it's great to invest yourself beyond just what you see, lord vader knows with all the money we dump into it we should get as much as we can out of these guys. Though again I'm classic trilogy only, so I don't think about the comics or much else. But I agree, these were not clones, they were just troops like any other army.

I guess I just want a display that feels more like a movie poster providing endless eye candy perfection... more than something I'm going to fantasize about and come up with different back-stories for. I leave the playing for my 3 3/4... 1/6 is strictly business.. with all due respect, sir!

My problem arises that i want 4 stormtroopers and I want the mouse droid and gun rack only because I know it exists. Otherwise I would just buy 4 tall stormies and call it a day.

Now if anyone wants to trade short stormtroopers for a tallboys, let me know!

I'm in the same boat. I want two big boys with the mouse droid and rifle, though if I went for three I'd be happy to have a small in there too. If anyone made a Vader that was normal sized I'd be fine with one short one tall.

One of the un-mended pockmarks of the OT is they created the impression that stormtroopers are all clones. Only during the PT era. In SW they had different height and voices.

The simple truth, both on Earth and even far away planets, is it will always be cheaper to draft the underclass of society into military service than grow a clone. History is filled with examples of undertrained poor people who were stuck in uniforms and given guns and pressed into combat.

The Empire doesn't need clones. They only need surplus hungry mouths.

I was never under the impression that the original trilogy Stormtroopers were clones, it was only when I saw the pretrilogy that the issue came up & even then it was stated that the clones left after the clone wars became Stormtroopers but that anybody else could be a Stormtrooper too..., always fancied being a Sandtrooper myself, Squad Leader would do nicely I think. :)

Look sir, droids!
