Yeah, living overseas often gets you a 25-30% mark-up on anything you order. Not so much bothered by taxes but fees charged over that are just disgusting. Mostly doubles VAT.

if it's not exclusive to certain webstores you can actually try ordering from toy shops around Asia, there's quite a few reputable ones that offer their stuffs close to HK/Japan price and you get discounts for preorders, and also points, only thing is you need to pay more for the shipping, but I'm guessing total would be less than if you order from say Canada/UK/Europe or even USA stores if it's something made by HK/Japan companies. Other than Japan most Asia shops tend to be flexible when it comes down to declaring the value and sending as gifts, just remind them to pack properly coz some sellers skimp on packagings.

plus strong USD makes it cheaper to purchase from overseas.

How do you apply that discount?? I've never been able to figure it out.

You have to download their app onto your phone (iphone or android) and then place an order thru that app. You get 20% off your first app order once it is placed and confirmed.


I've known about Midtown for a long time but have never ordered thru them. They seem very nice though and easy to reach. The only reason I jumped here was because the single HT Stormtrooper seemed to be drying up fast and this opportunity offered 20% off.

Yeah I visit Midtown Comics store quite often, they pretty cool most of time, except they don't allow you to use their bathroom. My little girl needed to pee badly, but the employee wouldnt budge. Thats one thing I dont miss about NYC, sores and restaurant not allowing you to use thier Bathrooms ;-D

IMO, a business with a publicly-accessible store-front and a hard-and-fast rule about no customer use of their bathroom shouldn't be allowed to be in business. Restricting it to customers only is totally fine, but no bathroom access at all should mean no business permit. Period. They're using municipal infrastructure they and need to pass that convenience along to other tax payers and visitors.

I think Vader would have some words for this store owner.

I totally agree and the lack of concern from the employee of my current situation also didnt help. I had a few items I was going to pay for in my hands, but had to leave them all behind due to having to leave in a hurry.

I've always believed that Stormtroopers should be in regular supply. HT stand to make lots of money since new collectors are joining the game all the time.
HT could do a couple of production runs a year.

How many you get now?

I bought a single and traded for a short, and on Sunday picked up a 2-pack from BBTS. So 3 total. I'll increase the height on one of the short troopers and end up with (hopefully) three different heights.

I only wanted 2 troopers, but I can't be bothered trying to sell one of these guys as I'd have to sell the taller one to have a corresponding box. The way prices are going at the moment, after commissions and effort, I'd be losing money - and I don't sell anything to lose money. If one day the prices are CRAZY then I'll consider parting with one - but by that time the sting will likely have worn off - I hope.

So three... all different heights. I like that. How did you like the shorttrooper compared to the talltrooper?

I really wanted a shorty -- still do -- but my absurd need for a spacetrooper trumped my shorty desire. I only want two "Death Star Stormtroopers".
