They really should, cause it was significantly different enough to not be a straight re-release with the deltiod plates and the reshaped upper arm beams. They could even do it with burnt flesh on it. If they do release it, but without flesh, that will be my custom mod on that.
Right, I actually have four 800s including my crawling torso version, limping T1 pose, and now two BD endos, so yeah, didn't feel the need.
I wouldn't say completely. Structurally it's the same, but the surface on the 700 is significanlty altered so much so that sanding isn't the answer.
The figures do look a bit like 800s with corrosion, but really, the movie prop texture is not pitted, but stands out from the surface. Besides, these are supposed to be fresh off the assembly line. Any texture would have been in the casting process. Perhaps there should be a final step of buffing and polishing before cyborg skin is added.
However, this is an alternate timeline war we are seeing now, so you could assume that the hyper alloy had either not yet been developed or the formula was lost when the Cyberdyne building was blown up in T2. Hence the difference in color, and in the case of the 600s, the fact that they seem to tarnish and get a little rusty looking.
Personally I perfer the way the 700 figure looks. I like the gunmetal color, and the texture makes more sense if you want flesh to stick to it. I always wondered how skin was supposed to stick to the chromed finish of the T2 Endos.
Skin actually needs a smooth texture in order to function properly.
The skin sits upon a layer of fat that separates it from the underlying muscles. The only thing anchoring the skin would be slime, nerves, and blood vessels, etc. So, the chrome finish is ideal for skin bearing machines.
A rough texture would be like sandpaper to skin. A definite no-no if you want your skit to last and be healthy.
