Yeah, the wrist/hand/body tape was as a result of this scene, which is not in the final cut of the film...for some reason. After he gets his hands and body cut by Funboy, he puts on the black electrical tape.

Yeah, weird they cut that. But even so, its the 'some reason' part I've always found odd.

In the comic (though its never said outright) it appears to be that self inflicted wounds either don't heal or not as well. While grieving he starts slashing his own arms and wrists then tapes himself up to stop the bleeding.

In the film? How are those wounds different from everything else? They'd heal fine on their own.

Re: Hot Toys The Crow petition

I always assumed in the movie the guitar he took from Gideon's was his before his character died and it was pawned there with Shelly's ring

Yeah, I used to think the same thing until I notice they were different brands. Also, there are so many things they didn't explain and the film gives people the wrong idea. Like the reason Eric Draven was using the tape and why he couldn't heal properly (he was working for the living when he helped Darla) Or when he was vulnerable in the church scene, which had nothing to do with the bird getting shot...until they changed it. He was vulnerable because once again, he was helping the living, which was a better idea than the bird getting shot, imo :lol

Because he was working for the living, when he helped Darla. The same at the end, when he goes to the church. In the original script, the Skull cowboy character tells Eric that he CAN'T work for the living, so when he goes to the church to save the girl, he was weak/vulnerable. When they got rid of the Skull Cowboy character, they changed it to the bird getting shot makes him vulnerable. I guess that's why the cut the Funboy fight scene. Still, he's wearing the black tape for no reason :lol I mean, there's a reason, but it got cut from the film :lol

This is some awesome Crow knowledge. I've seen the movie literally hundreds of times and I considered myself a Crow aficionado but this is some really good stuff that I never even thought of. I've seen the funboy deleted see before too and I never really put the two together in terms of the tape on him. Also the vulnerable when helping helping people thing was really interesting. Thank you, guys for these posts.

ah thanks for that .... I saw a bad version of the Skull Cowboy scene many years ago and couldn't make out what he was saying.

...although if he was correctly there to kill Funboy for his wife/himself ...then I'm not entirely sure how he was working for the living if Darla was a side product of that ? .... sounds like Eric got caught up in supernatural semantics :rotfl

Also funny that the 'shooting the Crow takes his power' angle was subsequently used in EVERY sequel in the exact same way :D

I knew that when he helped the living it weakined his powers so he didn't heal. He had to stay on his mission and in some cut scenes he even had a 2nd guide played by Micheal Berryman i think was his name. He would show up to keep him on track but the scenes were cut because they wanted the crow to be his guide.

Some good inside info here!

Skull cowboy - you beat me to it Clown Prince & SAB:)

He was draining the morphine from darla and that weakened him because he was helping the living.

I always liked the Skull Cowboy/helping the living makes him weak idea. I thought it was interesting and ironic, because Eric Draven is/was a good guy and it was probably in his nature to help people and do the right thing. He basically becomes a "superhero" and he is given all these supernatural powers and yet, if he uses them to help people, it makes him vulnerable. It was a good challenge for him and a good way to test him as person, imo. I guess shooting the bird works fine too...but man, that means he's easy to kill, if you know his secret :lol Top Dollar said it best, "Quick impression for you: Caw! Caw! Bang! ****, I'm dead!" :lol

happy?
What are your impressions of the teeth?

It's nice to have a decent 1/6th Crow at last. Posed correctly he looks great. The coat needs quiet a bit of futzing. And I still hate the teeth. I don't mind the open mouth or smile, just the actual sculpting of the teeth, they remind me of Jim Carrey The Mask. However in hand, not blown up by hyper detailed pics they are not as offensive. I've been wracking my brain on thinking of what can be done to fix them. The front teeth are big and flat, but even more weird are the side teeth which are huge and unhuman. Guitar is great, box is great, lightning rod is nice, overall it feels a bit kit bashed. But hey it's the bloody Crow, at last!
Lots of potential modding here for those who sway that way. The last figure I got was MOS Supes, which is one of HT's best, this isn't. But still a very nice release and a grail to many (including me).

I feel the MoS is HT best 1/5 character yet! :D

Glad finally someone said it, I have no idea what Hot Toys was thinking making them, they look like teeth from a cartoon character! I mean look how well they made the teeth for the QS001, I guess that is 1/4 scale but still I think they could of made them look at least realistic. However, like you said at least they are not noticeable at this scale but imagine if this sculpt was made in 1/4 scale! :horror

Got a link?

He mentions it in his lengthy review for the MOS figure.

I think it's in between the middle and the end I think. Sorry I don't know exactly where it is.

Anyway here it is below
