Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Lt. Jim Gordon S.W.A.T suit version Figure - Specs & Pic

All the convention exclusives have been overpriced. Some have seen prices fall while they were still available,ie Shadow Pred, Nightmare Bats & Scarecrow. While others have continued to climb or remain at a constant, ie Bruce Wayne Begins Bats & Secret Project Iron Man.

Now personally, I don't think ANY of these are worth what they are asking for them but I've been going to SDCC for the last 6 years and I understand and accept the "Con Exclusives" game. They're all offered at a premium price! From every manufacturer. You can always take the risk and see if it comes down in value but the safe bet in collectibles is just to buy it, if you can, when you see it.

this is too test the waters to see if people are interested in Gordon .

This is a classic Hot Toys marketing tactic. They start selling the least liked version of something first and work their way up to the most fan demanded version. They don't always do that (Tron, Avatar, Sucker Punch) but it is pretty common nonetheless (Predator, Blade, Terminator).

I think this is the route they are following with Gordon. SWAT version first as a Lt. then we'll see the Commissioner version...probably under the TDKR banner and maybe with the bat signal.

If that is the case then allow me to thank all of you good people who are buying this figure because you are helping the chance of me getting another figure with better likeness and the iconic long coat. Cheers!

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Lt. Jim Gordon S.W.A.T suit version Figure - Specs & Pic

My belief is that when they do a desirable figure as an exclusive that the price will go up. The begins suit offered the best Wayne sculpt to date and the "first night out" outfit as well as improvements to the cowl. The secret project just looked badarse, and had the Tomy stark sculpt. I always found the scarecrow/demon set unappealing. The boxes were cool, scarecrow was nice, but there was no Cillian Murphy sculpt, and that just didn't make the piece "necessary." it also left all of us feeling like they would redo scarecrow anyway. SWAT Gordon, I believe, will become one of the "necessary" figures because of what a cool scene it's part of and how we will probably never see a version of that moment again.

Looks like him in a way a good Sideshow figure would look like him (a fairly good passing resemblance). However Hot Toys looks like the real Gary Oldman. No contest

Just to be clear I don't have the funds for a SWAT Gordon at the moment, but if I did I would get it.

Quick photoshop. I'm loving this, pointing out mistakes. Sad, but sod it.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Lt. Jim Gordon S.W.A.T suit version Figure - Specs & Pic

I actually superimposed it to an actual still OF him. So I suppose it's just your subjectivity getting in the way of objectivity here.

Or maybe I got the still from an angle that makes his head look bloated. But the eyes certainly makes him look more like Gary Oldman despite the wideness of the head.

Sorry but your version looks less like him

That PS shows the errors pretty well

Yeah I can see that, but somehow it made the head look too wide like sprig0701 pointed out. The shape of the figure's head needs to stay the same

A bit of visual aid goes a long way, I reckon.
